ive heard good and bad
as long as you dont tourch them you should be okay
maybe get some shocks and a panhard rod
im cutting my springs 1 coil all the way around and seeing how it rides

We cut them in my buddys and it was so bumpy you couldnt have any kind of open drink is his car. It looked sick though.
He left them on there for two days and then ordered real lowering springs.

cutting springs (correctly) with stock shocks is the same as buying stiffer lowering springs. If done right, with the proper shocks involved, the car can be made to handle very well. I'm very very happy with my setup.

I cut mine last week and it rides fine. It probably doesn't ride as good as maybe a koni or strano setup but to have almost nothing tied up in a lowering job and looks just as good as a pro-kit I would say go for it. I would not cut out anymore than 1 coil max because anything over 1 is asking for trouble.

Just make sure that if you cut your springs you don't use a torch. Do it with a fine tooth hacksaw and use lots of lubricant so you don't introduce a lot of heat. If you get them hot, it'll change the spring constant and they won't be consistent.
