What is the difference between the ends. I heard that rod ends on the LCAs cause more noise. but what about the panhard rod... what difference will it make? thanks! and im looking at BMRs, btw

I would go poly ends.

I have a poly/rod end phb. I haven't noticed any additional noise over stock. I would even consider going double rod ended but I'm happy with what I have.

I had a rod end PHB back in '86-'87, and it was quiet for a couple thousand miles. Then the rod ends loosened up a little, and it was noisy all the time. I changed to a poly ended bar in that car and it stayed quiet until I sold the car in '95. I put a poly ended bar in the '96 Z-28 right after I lowered in the spring of '96, and it's been fine ever since.

The best combo is poly/rod. Poly where it bolts to the body, to decrease noise. Rod where it bolts to the suspension/rear, to increase articulation. Win/win situation.

If the car is going to be mostly a street driven daily driver I would recommend the poly/poly type panhard bar. Sure you will hear people say their rod ended panhard bars are as quite as stock (usually when they are new) but if not properly maintained the chances of it becoming noisier greatly increase so why risk it....

Ide go with Poly/Rod. Or poly/poly... You wont gain enough from going to rod/rod to really be worth it on a street car IMO. The poly wont wear out like rubber does, so it'll stay in shape a lot longer.

I have some rod end parts on my Jeep, and while they are quiet at first, they tend to get alittle noisy after awhile.

Any aftermarket unit runs the chance of getting noisier. Maintain it or listen to it complain. Even poly/poly come with zerk fittings.

I've got the double adjustable in my car and you can hear it over really crappy road sections. If I could do it again I'd probably go poly like my swaybars.

Any tips on reducing the noise of the double adjustable?

The best thing I can recommend is using a graphite type lube. Sometimes rod ends make noise not because they are loose but because they are binding during articulation. A graphite lube will also not attract more debris like an oil based lubricant. If you lubricate them well and twist the rod ends the full range of motion to work it in it usually helps prevent some of the noise.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try that.
