SFC's

im either going to buy UMI or BMR SFC's

there really is no difference between the two right?

kenSS Jun 4, 2008 06:08 PM

i have bmr's on my SS. i like them but don't any UMI SFC's to compare them to though. they both make great products.

djsanchez2 Jun 4, 2008 06:17 PM

Both make good quality parts. Can't go wrong with either unless you overpay :D

twitchtwice Jun 4, 2008 06:19 PM

well i believe they are the same price. thats why i was asking. lol.:bang:

ttranssam Jun 4, 2008 06:20 PM

twitchtwice Jun 4, 2008 06:30 PM

Mike@ZMS Jun 4, 2008 06:59 PM

Box. Torsionally more stiff.

Yes boxed are stronger, but not torsionally. They're more resistant to being bent.

The tubular style will tuck up tighter and are 4lbs less then the boxed set-up. If you do not wish for them to be seen from the side of the vehicle then I recommend the tubular set-up. The boxed do not effect ground clearance but do hang approx. 3/8" below the pinch weld under the door and can be seen from the side when choosing a color such as red.

We also offer the tubular style in a 100% bolt in set-up that can be welded at a later date. Just another option.

If you have any questions please ask. Thank you!
Ryan

both are really good companies that i have figured out

twitchtwice Jun 5, 2008 12:18 AM

i went with the UMI red boxed weld ins

what all did you guys notice after you installed them. handling and what not, i know its not a huge difference but what did you guys feel?

87formy Jun 5, 2008 10:33 AM

Why'd you go with red? You know they're going to stick out under the car, right? If there isn't anything else done to your suspension it should feel better. Also the ride will be a little more harsh due to the stiffer chassis.

Thanks for the order :)

87formy- Jerry our technical support here runs the boxed style red on his white SS.. they look really sharp hanging down slightly and he gets a lot of questions on them. Its good for business for us :D

twitchtwice Jun 5, 2008 01:25 PM

no problem man.

i got the red on purpose. why would i want black on a black car? can you say boring. red will be a nice accent on a black car with red ss badges, and im also going to paint my calipers red

Haha, awesome! I guess I shouldn't be one to judge that sort of thing, all of my stuff is black.

twitchtwice Jun 5, 2008 06:17 PM

yea i like a nice contrast. it will look good with the black car and some added red for some accent. ill have to take some pics when its all said and done.
