Front brakes on rear
Hey guys, I don't know too much about vettes, but I'm using one as a donor for a kit car.
Anyway, I recall hearing of an old poor-man's brake upgrade which simply involved getting a set of front brakes and putting them in the rear of a given car.
I know it will require changes in valve proportioning but nevermind all that, I'll play with that until its right.
What I'd like to know, though, is if this will work well on a C6 Z06 suspension setup.
e-brake's arent important because I can simply use a hydraulic hanbrake that uses the normal brake lines.
But what I'd like to know is if the front calipers/rotors will just bolt right in to the rear suspension, or if i need to buy/fabricate my own brackets to make it fit.
Thanks alot,
-Matt

Well, the thing is that I'm building a mid-engine car, with weight distribution at about 60 percent rear.
Even though most of that will be brough to the front under hard braking, I think the significant shift of weight to the rear will affect braking, because the Z06 rear brakes simply were not engineered for that kind of distribution. I will be modifying brake distribution anyway, but I'd like to have my rear brakes do their job 'easily' so they wont always be pushed too hard.
Either way, I'm buying Brembo rotors, and the price for front and rear is about the same, so I figure I might as well just buy 2 sets of fronts and 2 sets of front calipers (my donor is a C5, so I need to buy calipers and rotors anyway, and the rest is almost interchangeable)
its bang for almost no buck, as long as it fits.
