You LT1 guys can't do jack with your engines

You gotta go out and buy like 383 bottom ends and stuff to make big power. A few upper end parts and tune on an LS1 and we send you guys home 1st round

The Lloyd Elliott LE2 package with the 232/240 cam makes better numbers then you have listed in your sig. The cost of a Ls1 with your mods you could have bought 2 LT1's. and had $$ left over. And if the WEAK LT is capable making the same power you have listed in your sig then I guess your car is a big as a pile as mine then huh..

I have ran and beat LS1's many of times..been beat also, but the majority of them can't hang!

You shouldn't be using my sig to refer to the potential power ability of LS1. My car has a mild/avg cam with crappy flowing heads for sissy streetability so I can drive like grandma. With a big monster 232/240 I'd be making a lot more power than your heavy iron block bucket

But anyways, yeah I wouldn't cut springs. Mostly because I don't know what the new springrate is going to be. The new rate might be different per spring, which I don't want. Ride height would be inconsistent. I'd just go aftermarket due to the cheap cost of springs compared to other modifications and the preciseness of the specifications (given that it's a good spring). I also question about the integrity of the spring after being cut, but I really wouldn't know much about that. I'd just be skeptical

Look at it this way, both makes are old and there is much better out there. What you fail to realize, you can build a LT and achieve some really good power for the buck. The Ls on the other hand...why waste the money for a few better upgrades when you can swap or build a LT for a lot less?

And your comment about us not being able to do much with our engines please!! I have 443 at the wheels on a stock bottom end and I murder you LS all day. I'm in my car a bit over 9k. I bet you are into yours at least 12k w/o the upgrades. Your reasons for driving like a grandma are prob cause you can't afford to put gas in the tank cause all your money went towards signing your name on the title. Kinda sucks when you think about how much it ran you to build your car and then get beat by a worthless LT huh?

I now see why new springs would be a much better choice.

I have looked around and seen a few different springs that advertise just a 1" drop. As I said before, I do not want much more than a 1/2" drop for the front, as I have Ground effects. If I get a 1" drop, can I then somehow lose some of the drop on the front? I dunno, kind of like adding isolators/thicker hose to bring it up a bit?? (reverse of hose mod).
Also, would dropping the rear with hose mod, + a 1" spring be okay with just a 1/2" drop on the front? I cant see why not, enlighten me.
Or perhaps there is a 1/2" - 3/4" drop spring I just haven't seen yet?

So you cut springs and used stock shocks, because you are a "cheap bastard". And yet, you have aftermarket wheels???

I took off the spring/shock assy, then cut around 5/8ths of a turn, around 1/2" drop. Puts the centriod of the curve of the fender in line with the center of the wheel.

I tried to cut the spring with the assy still together, but my set of compressors just didnt allow due to the position of the upper A-arm. I removed shock and spring. Took around 6 hrs.

No adverse effects, no riding difference, no aligning problems. Perfect for what I wanted.

Cutting the front springs is the only way to get the 1/2 - 3/4" drop you want other than buying Koni shocks. Although disassembly might be rough due rust, there should be no adverse effects from doing this. It'll give the perfect compliment to the heater hose mod in the rear.
