Default Should I get sportlines?

There is a guy local to me that said he would trade his sportlines for my stockers and $40 or $50. Just wondering if I should do it or just pass on it

here is a pic of my car as it sits now for referance

Sportlines will lower the car significantly but at the cost of ride quality and handling performance. Do a search, there is a reason why everyone hates sportlines.

You'll get a great stance with the sportlines. But if you hit any bumps it'll be quite harsh. So not something I'd recommend for a DD.

IMO, Tell him you'll only do it if he pays you $50!

That way you'll have $50 to put towards some decent lowering springs.

My car looks sick on Sportlines with 18"s. It's very low if you have a 3" ORY too. The ride isn't too bad because I used to DD a bagged truck, so my opinion will be different than the average driver.

Just to give you another option, our springs for will lower your car 1", still give you good ride quality and are guaranteed for life against spring sag. The fronts are rated at #550,the rears at #170. We have them in stock and a set of four is $229.95 plus shipping.

If I was given sportlines for free I wouldn't put them on my car. I'd even be temped to not sell them, feeling sorry for whoever buys them...

I am not to concerned about handling, already took off the front sway bar, I really think I might go through with it. Any chance on these hurting my 60 ft at the track?

Show car hell yes, daily driver, weekend road warrior no; check the spring rates on those. From what I hear over time your car might be sitting 3" or lower than stock. I have a brand new set of sportlines that I was going to install until the guys on LS1tech had so much bad to say about them I bought different springs. But damn after looking at your pic you do need some sort of a drop on that thing.

I thought the same thing you did that 1-1.2" is not near enough for that wheel gap and I was way WAY wrong, I installed Eibach Pro Kits ( on the car in my signature ) and measured after the drop it came out to 1.2-1.3" and it is plenty low enough

here is pics for reference going from stock to 1.2ish inch drop. ( and hell yes I am using this to show off the wheels lol )

the sportlines would make the car look badass. On the other hand, it will ride like **** and you will scrape stuff underneath on speed bumps/driveways. If looks are what you're after, that would be the only reason for purchasing them.

Sportlines don't have the spring rate needed to compensate for the drop they provide. They're a poorly engineered spring and not worth your time or money.

With the Eibach sportlines your cars bump-stops determine the ride quality. That's why he wants your stock springs, he's not doing you any favor, it's you who's doing him the favor. IMO,he should be willing to pay $50 for stock springs.

I agree. I had a set on my car when I got it and I'm now back to stock height and not regretting it for a second.

Yeah man, those sportlines would look awesome but its just too damn low! I love my Eibach pro-kit springs but sometimes I still rack the bumpstops everynow and then. Don't get 'em..

Sportlines are one of the few things that we all universally seem to agree upon that completely suck. And you know that a lot of us don't agree upon many things in this forum

Sportlines are an appearance mod only. Not only are they terribly uncomfortable, but also poorly designed for any type of handling need. No matter what shock you pair them with...they'll still be a downgrade. If you prefer to slow yourself down because you're handling worse, then this is the mod for you, otherwise, only consider them offer for a $50 "discount" and/or "rebate" towards better springs.

I mention this also from personal experience.

If your 60' times are a concern I would not recommend them for this reason alone never mind the poor ride characteristics...
