Default Ticking sound from motor ( video )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=928jaZVM9Zg

Ok, so i was running down the road having a little fun, no problems at all car runs fine. I get off the highway and stop at the stopsign and i hear this noise, im like wtf? I give it a rev and it ticks even faster! I have NO idea what this sound is im told it could be a rocker/bent rod/spring. It just started happening the motor has about 117,000 on it. Car only has headers/lid, sparkplugs/wire are brand new maybe 5k on them. Just changed the oil about 500 miles ago.

The car still runs fine it doesnt idle rough or anything, i got on it a little bit and it still reacts the way it should (not getting on it anymore though).

Any help is appreciated guys!

Sounds like a broken rocker arm to me, that's exactly what mine sounded like.

Just figure out what bank its on, and pull the valve cover. Shouldnt take much time at all...+ it will be very obvious what is broken.

Unplug the deutsch connector to the 4 coil packs, unbolt the coil pack bracket, pop out the PCV rubber pipe on the valve cover in the back, unbolt the valve cover.

discover broken part

Just curious did you take off both vavle covers and wiggle all the rockers? It sounds like a rocker arm backed off to me. Or maybe bent a pushrod. Only other sound Ive heard like that is exhuast leak. If you have paper Header gaskets it could have blown out in on section. Check to make sure all the bolts are tight. Just some input. If i think of something else I will hit you up.

If the car is revving normal and no hesitation while driving, I would lean towards exhaust. You did say it was a new tranny/clutch, so the exhaust was recently messed with.

its usually not that loud, but its tough to tell on recorded videos....make sure all your plugs are nice and tight. they will make some pretty loud noise if they come loose. You may have more than one plug that has come loose and it sounds really loud. longshot, but its an easy thing to check!

good luck, Karl

+1 on the lifter. If you take off the two valve covers off and all the rockers are tight, then I bet money it is a lifter plunger probably got stuck. I had the same noise in a car with 195,000 miles. Lucas oil and the problem went away. Just my two cents. Good luck.

Well I had a knock too. It winded up being a spun rod bearing. So it's getting a complete rebuild.

It started out that it would only knock when it got to 3000 rpm. Then the damn thing starting knocking at idle. Then it started to squeak. Then it sounded like a f'n tin can was being beat up in the motor. Oh good God I am reliving my nightmare all over again.
