One more thing to add to the quirky two TE's. Kubiak said in an interview they are really excited about Anthony Hill the blocking TE because they want to use him to block the SAM backer in the 3-4 defenses that they struggled against this season.

I'd definitely like the draft picks this year...Kubes and Smith have done a great job...

I agree with you about them not drafting a RB....but I think you are right in that there were better athletes on the board when it was their turn to draft.....

In the late rounds you pick the best player available....hence the Casey pick....I think the Texans are lucky to have him...I'm surprised he lasted that long....

I am excited to see the Texans defense this year! WOW! With a top 20 or 15 defense and with our explosive offense, that should equal to some quality wins.

The Texans signed Oregon RB Jeremiah Johnson and Tennessee RB Arian Foster to free-agent contracts yesterday too. Johnson weighs 210 and Foster 225.

I thought the James Casey pick was awesome. That guy has a TON of upside. They also improved the defense and special teams. I'd grade the Texans draft as a B. Not drafting a running back was disappointing.

IMO the Cowboys had a disappointing draft. I don't see any 2009 starters out of those draft picks. Giving up up a #1 draft choice for Roy Williams hurt. He's going to have to produce big-time to justify the price. However, he's better than any rookie WR they could have brought in, and now that T.O. is gone he's the man. They reached big-time taking Stephen McGee. They could have gotten him a lot later if they would have been patient. I'm not sure what the line of thinking is on him. IMO he'll never play QB in the NFL.

Saw this a few minutes ago. McGee will have some serious competition in camp.

QB Graham Harrel (Texas Tech) (Tryout for Contract - could sign with Dallas)

Tech has not had a qb drafted in quite some time... nobody is buying into their system yet.

well see how he does though... i'm sure somebody will gamble him as a FA.

Ross, it goes to show that NFL scouts don't really think much of Tech's "system" offense and the offensive numbers the QB's in it put up. I don't know of one Tech QB in the Leach era that is even on an NFL roster.

Harrel took a snap from under center at TT how many times, 4-5? At the Senior Bowl he proved he can't read a D while dropping back, looked bad under center, has a pop gun arm and pretty much proved he's a system guy.

McGee on the other hand had a great week at the practices and Shiner Game and proved he can make the throws and work under center.

Thats what everyone is over looking. Tech's system of the qb isnt widely used in the nfl. NFL scouts want a guy under center. I think its hilarious that McGee went before tech's beloved qb.

Looks like he's going to the Browns.
Harrell signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent.

Everyone had McGee rated as a good sleeper in the draft. They said he has the best work ethic in the draft which is what the cowboys need. Don't forget how many records McGee set throwing to Shippley in high school. Franchone never used him or developed him to his potential. Plus his 4.6 forty time was second at the combine for QB's in pads. He's not bad for a 3rd stringer.

I think the Cowboys needed someone like him, basically the total opposite of TO.

I do think it was a little high at 3rd round.

If McGee makes the Cowboys it will be because he beat out Brooks Bollinger, who is terrible. If that happens he'll most likely be on the practice squad since Jon Kitna is the backup to Romo and they won't keep three QB's on the roster. They could have picked a player that they had more of a need for with that fourth round pick and still have gotten McGee in the fifth, sixth or seventh round.

Jerry Jones is getting almost as bad as Al Davis, who is senile. JJ's ego won't let him hire a personnel man to run the draft or a strong minded coach that will run that team with fire and discipline. Any good owner hires the best player personnel and coaches and steps aside and lets them run the show, but unfortunately not JJ.

That pretty much sums it up. The little time Sherman was able to see him he could tell he would make a good pro QB, heard the same from former players and scouts that got a chance to see him at the shrine game. Just needs some work he never got while in school.

I don't pay attention to the Cowboys but they weren't drafting guys for this season, sounded like they plan on wining with what they have. As for making the team, Mcgee will really have to F--- up. JJ isn't going to admit it was a bad pick and have a free agent singe make it while his 4th round pick, their 3rd overall, is looking for a job.
