Default got lucky!

driving from Dallas to San Antonio this past saturday morning. No exaggeration, there was a cop every 10 miles between dallas county line and austin. mostly state troopers. for the first time in 4 years, i saw my first ever undercover cop in TX. saw a blue impala, and a brown crown vic. the latter of which, i had a little 'imperial entanglement' with, as han solo would have put it.

so since my radar detector was lighting up like christmas the entire drive, i was not pressing my luck with speed. up ahead i see a brown crown vic, non police model, with regular license plates. however, i can see a trunk mount antenna clear as day. i approach with caution. i can see his smokey bear hat sitting on the dash, and i see him looking at every single car that drives by him. obviously a cop. well he's going 65 in the right lane, and its a 70mph zone, and cars are blowing by him and he isnt doing anything. i decide to pass him. as long as i use my signals and dont go over 70, i'll be fine, right? wrong!

the second i pass him, he throws the lights on. i pull over, turn off the car and hand him my stuff. he tells me that he stopped me for no front license plate. then i get a little lightbulb over my head... "oh, ****... ya know what, the plate is on there, i just put the cover back on over it because i was in a camaro/firebird car show at the state fair last weekend and i havent driven the car since, and i forgot all about it... if you got a screwdriver on you, i can take the cover back off right here." he says 'well, i dont have a screwdriver, but i'm going to give you a written warning for that... there's no fine or anything, just get it taken care of.'

now of course that is pure coincidence that the fair was last weekend... but i would have used a similar excuse regardless. my first time getting stopped for no front plate in 13 years of not having one, and i actually got a warning... only in TX would I ever get a warning from a Statie!

i got a warning from on down in alvin (south of houston) and he let me go with a warning only because my dad was in the passenger seat with his badge out and i only had my permit at the time... he pulled me over driving my whole family in my moms car cause she had 20% tint... some state troopers are real nit-picky n some are actually very reasonable... he was a nit picky one..

I got pulled over for 3% tint by a state trooper and he gave me a warning for the 3% tint and the front brow being 3 inches lower then the A1 lineor whatever. he also added a warning for no front plate.... I guess he was having a good day? LOL

does anyone know if another officer can see if you've received a warning for something before?
