Shawn was a great dude. Sometimes I talk down to people and am a bit of an *** when I think I know more or do know more than someone asking me questions. Shawn was the complete opposite, always answered things honestly and just wanted to help people out.
I asked why he sold that 10 second LT1 back in the day and his answer "sometimes it's not always about having a fast car, It's about enjoying life and other hobbies and I have some things I want to do."
I pray he did what he wanted to do, because everytime I saw him out he was having fun and was a great guy.

Rest in Peace Shawn, and condolences to his family.
I met Shawn the first time I dynoed my car, at the Quick Lube several years ago. Ran into to him a few times at the track as well. At some point he was a moderator for the Texas forum over at camaroz28.com. All the positive comments here were my impression as well. RIP Shawn.

Someone needs to post videos of these gatherings it always sucks losing someone so close to you...he sounds like a real stand up guy...I didn't know him but I've been thru it...it's never fun but it does help when you think back on the good old days and the good times shared between two old friends

All of the threads and posts really show what kind of guy Shawn was. I remember when I moved to Dallas back in 2000, and at the time I had my '98 T/A. It was a month after moving there, and I didn't know too many of the guys in the area. Shawn posted a track gathering at Ennis, and when I got there he quickly introduced himself and a lot of the other guys to me. He didn't meet a stranger, and he was always willing to help. That was back in the day when he would trash the 'ol LT1! The LS stuff was new to him, and I was quick to help him out when he bought his TBSS. Shawn truly loved playing with cars, and we would talk on the phone as his modding of the TBSS progressed like we were 16 with our first car. He loved cars and being around people, and he has left a huge footprint on so many peoples' lives. It's hard to lose a friend so young, but I'm grateful for the time that I had to get to know him. The world has lost a great person.
RIP Saladbar!

This doesn't seem real, it's hard to grasp the idea of him being gone. I met Shawn back in '01 and saw him damn near daily for over two years. Either track days/nights, gtg's, or our house or someone else's. He was a genuine, honest, and personable guy. He had a rare sense of humor, you never could listen to his jokes without laughing. They were either funny or so damn dumb you couldn't help but laugh cause he'd put such a big grin on at the end. It's a tragedy he's not with us anymore, but it's nice to say I had the pleasure of knowing him as a friend and the memories I have will keep him as alive as ever. Take care Shawn.

went to the cruise and drag race yesterday. lots of people showed to give their respects, and celebrate shawns life. shawn was able to make several passes down the track, (his ashes in the pass seat of his trailblazer.) overall a very good time, with lots of good memories. RIP Shawn "Saladbar" Salazar.
