We drove down by the Hilton on Saturday and I noticed how empty it was. I just assumed it was low tide combined with a strong northwest wind.

dude, it's just 'low tide'...

actually, that is a significant amount of water that has been lost. especially with the wet winter and spring in TX.

dont' fish much, but every time I did, it sucked in the lake anyway. Mostly Croakers. yea, standard tide will fill it back up. there is a channel less than a mile long that connects it to Galveston Bay.

Correct ! It was on page 1267 of the 2000+ page healthcare bill. The residents of Clear Lake, however, will have to pay a slight increase in taxes to have it refilled.

its actually kinda nice when it does this, i always go pull all the trash (tons from the hurricane right now) out of the mud behind my house so i can fish without getting hooked on all kinds of crap. when it went out this time i pulled out 1/2 a porta potty, 10+ tires, a rusty v-twin engine, and part of an old dock.

the fishing was ok when the tide was going down, before it got too shallow, i caught 2 16'-18' reds with some shad between waterford harbor and watergate right off the bulkhead

I wish people would throw their damn trash in the trash and not the water. Some of like to SCUBA dive and don't want to look at trash and ****. I know you would SCUBA there but the principle is the same. I am far from a tree hugger or a GW nut but, we don't need to **** up our eco systems just because we are lazy or for no good reason. We need to try and be good stuards of our planet so we can continue to enjoy it. Sorry for the soap box.

After I typed all of that I just realized he said it was from the hurricane. lol
