Check Engine Ligth OBD II wont read car's comp My check engine light came on and when I tried to use a code scanner I could not get get the scanner to read the car's computer. My dad said it could be a blown fuse. I lost my repair manual so I was hoping you guys could tell me which fuse might have gone out. Please help out this noob i need the name of the fuse and where it is located on the car thanks for the help |
The port needs 12V (on P16 IIRC). Its a blown fuse behind the cover on the driver's side. |
The cig lighter will cause that also. check the fuse. |
its the cig lighter. |

x2 on this one |
X1000 lol Check your fuses and go from there...what kind of scanner btw??? 5% chance it may be due to a cheap scanner..(even harbor freight sells scanners...now thats SCARY!!!) |
It could be that I have a crappy scanner but the guy at autozone also checked it with their scanner. |
I said the fuse number... |
Thanks for the help guys. You guys were right. It was the cig lightr fuse. The guy at autozone didn't tell me the code number but he said it was massive clutch failure.:bang: This would make sense since my clutch is about to go out. Its really soft and the gears sometimes grind when I shift (very mild grinding barely audible) Does having a worn out clutch hurt the tranny? I figure it would but I'm an m6 noob so please be gentle with your response. Since the subject has now turned to clutches do any of you guys recommend a specific brand (daily driving) Thanks |
If it is starting to grind its eating the transmission yes. I know several people that have had good luck with the Ram clutches in LS1 cars and they aren't too expensive. |
RAM is terrible but more important they have worse customer service. I wont go into too much detail but mine has been terrible since 2,000 miles and will be going with a spec. I have a friend that had the same issue and the fingers on the pressure plate were bent and Rams customer service didnt believe him so he sent it to them in a spec box lol....GO WITH SPEC....thats what i'm buying and also upgrade your hydraulics! |

The cars I have put Ram's in get dumped at 6-7 thousand RPM on slicks and have lasted a long time... |
