No problem. I am sorry about the issues. I can promise you I would not have wasted your time with coming up here to buy it nor would I have paid what I did for it from the original owner. I will see you on Saturday.

from the pics it looks like the sleeves can be cleaned up w/ just a simple hone. I wouldn't think a machine shop would charge alot to check the crank and install new bearings...

to each their own though!

The metals are due to spun bearings on the shaft. I'm sure this motor was pulled because of knock. How does the crank look?

I didn't want to tear it down that far. Please understand that the engine was supposed to be able to run w just a head redo otherwise I would have been looking for just a block and build it that way. I think I will hold on Till the right one comes along

The person I bought it from claims the car was hammered from the rear end about 3000 miles after it got a new clutch and rebuild done on the transmission. The way the main harness was hacked and the exhaust was cut off with a torch wrench, it appears like it was removed from a wrecked car not from a car you planned on installing a new engine in. This is why I believed the story about it being wrecked. I turned it over by hand with a breaker bar and socket and the engine turned over very smoothly.

I can understand the buyer not wanting to mess with it. I did offer to refund $200 to cover things like bearings and honing it but the offer was declined. Its not a big deal. I have no use for the engine so I'll just part it out.

Great that you are working with the OP. OP.....be extremely thankful. The next person will prob not be as gracious. You should drop off the engine with a case of beer and forgetaboutit...

Looks as if a spun rod bearing. The rod hit the oil pan b/c of the play in it.

OP, be glad you are getting something back for it. As Triche said, drop of a case of beer to the guy, become friends and forget about the whole engine deal. Good luck.

We are all squared up on the deal. The engine did end up having an issue with the crankshaft on the front two journals. Looks like I will be parting it out and hope I don't lose too much on it.
