machine shop question
machine shop question i am looking for a machine shop that will fly cut my pistons with the pistons in the motor. i prefer it to be around our area.
reason why:
i am currently regasketing the motor. (bought it and it hasn't been ran in 5 yrs just been sealed up and stored away everything checks out) pulled the heads off and saw that the valves have hit the pistons.. so i need to have the pistons fly cut.
any ideas on who will do this??
info on motor.
a set of 624 heads that have been milled .030 with stock size valves
010 block thats 030
cam is a 534/534 lift at .050 and 256 duration at .050 with a lobe separation of 108
stock crank and rods that have been worked.
or does anyone know the max size cam you can go with a sbc?

I have never heard of flycutting valves,, I think you mean flycutting the pistons, what they do is Install a cutter in the valve guide and then spin it cutting into the piston to create a relief for the valve, which will require pulling the head off installing the cutters, then putting the head on cutting, then pulling the head off etc.etc. this could end up costing alot.. there are a ton of guys who do this themselves, the tools can be bought, and then sold. Just something to consider. what do you mean by in our area??? where are you, pretty big state of ours.
