If you are going to drive it frequently, c6 no question.
Weekend only toy, then whichever you like better. Mods are the same on both. Most Mods will work on either car. Exhaust is one exception.
I do not regret my car in any way, however every time I see a black c5z, I drool...

Saying the c6 is so much nicer than a c5 is funny. It is just different plastic. They both have the same cheap leather, same paint, share a bunch of the same mechanical parts, etc. Quality is the same. The c6 is more modern inside and outside. If interior is a major requirement you want the c6, but I don't understand buying a sports car with interior being a major requirement. The c5z will have more road noise and feel more raw partially b/c of that.
I drove Bizzatch350's 07 z51. Being a z51 it drives just like my c5z, but the road noise is less, seats feel very slightly different, and the steering wheel is shaped differently. Those are the only difference you can hear and feel. The rest is looks which is just preference.
I'm not sure I'd buy a c6 if it wasn't a z06. The decision was easy when I bought the c5z vs an 05-06. I might have grabbed a z51 ls3 car though over the c5 though just for the engine.

it is cheap. i did my center console last night with plasti dip it was silver. i think it turned out good for a $6 can of paint. I'm going to do the 2 silver pieces on the dash tonight.

To answer the OP. I had the same question or delimma. I had enough money to get a C6 and actually had an 08' picked out and about to buy it. I could not do it because I just think the C5 Z06 looks better. So, I bought an 03'.

only thing i dont like about mine is the seats. omfg the seats in the z06 are murder after the 18th hour. but that can be taken cared of with aftermarket seats. i chose to get the c5z over the c6 just because **** it's a Z06. i will how ever upgrade to a c6z one of these years. if it's not a z06 i'd keep looking

Whatever I get will be a weekend toy. Im partial to all vettes, except for the early models. Im going to get one income tax time but until then, post away...lol.

well i have found out that the ls2 is a bad *** motor!!! my coworker says he is going to make 575hp with ported 243's and a cam!!! i think god touched his motor lol

when i was looking a year ago i couldn't find many ls3 in the low 30's unless the where yellow or a auto. i found one black 6spd ls3 for like 29k but it had like 50k miles and it was beat up. i was only looking in houston. i heard of people getting good deals out of the houston area. someone was telling me they found a c6z for like 35k with 50k miles.
