Help choosing cam for my ls1 Ok guys I've got a 98 very Trans am a4.. Mods are LT headers with a 3" y pipe magnaflow built with a cutout.. Sunoco ram air and intake... I want to mod the cam on my car but I want what's gonna give me the most power without affecting drivability.. Also I do not want to mod the intake or heads... Any ideas? |
what size converter? |
3400 to 4000 |
3400 to 4000 somewhere along there still gotta see which one tho |
something drivabilty i would say a 228R cam or a torquer 2.... |
I love how ms3 cams sound is that too big?? I want it real choppy and rowdy |
the ms3 is an all out effort cam, not for stock 241 heads, and not the most street friendly either, why not try the torquer v2 or the gx3 |
How much power do the v2s make? And the 228? I like how they sound |

I want it real choppy and rowdy no its not too big...but if ur looking for more of a streetable cam i would go a bit smaller then the ms3...u can even go with a torquer v3 not too bad of a cam if the heads clear since ur car is a 98 cuz the torquer v3 intake lift is high with a 3600 converter |

MS3 or MS4, a 4000 would work good with one of those, no cam is going to really make much power without at least an ls6 intake. Driveablity is going to all depend on the tune. Pat G has a 500 hp car with good street manners, I think I am going to have him update my tune in the near future. Think of the motor as a big air pump, the more air in\out of the motor, the more power you are going to make. I think if you stay with the ls1 intake you are leaving lots of power on the table, cost per hp it is well worth the upgrade. |

bat did, but I took it off cause people were pm'ing me to ship it. I just didn't want the hassle of all that. If someone local to SA needed it I would pull it off the car, for now I am deciding which way I want to go with the car, either way I will put a different intake in the future. |

I wouldn't choose an MS3 if drivability is one of your top requirements in a cam. I would go with a 228/232 112LSA. If Pat G is going to be tuning your car I would probably recommend him to spec you a cam. Noone knows his cam choices and tunability of them better than him. |
