6l80e in a trans am

Default 6l80e in a trans am

I was jw if anyone can help me find out what all I need or if even possible to put a 6l80e on my ls1 trans am, really tired of replacing the shitty 4l60e, any info would help, thnx

I was thinkin about it, but the 6l80e is a six speed auto, wonderin how hard the would pull!

4l80's can be built very stout. I dont think the 6l80s are built as strong yet. Probably more expensive also

It can be done but chingo expensive easiest route probably be a stand alone controller. If you want to go delco electronics route you are looking at having to replace crank reluctor and convert to DBW and use a pcm for a 08-12denali pu as your starting point for a flash.

I would be nice a 6l80e with paddle shift instead of being controlled by the pcm

Go with a 4l80 and a tbrake and be done with it. I got mine from Jakes Performance. They are sponsors on here. Jake, Mike and Steven are really badass guys to deal with and very knowledgeable. If they can't help you, they'll steer you in the right direction.

The 6l80 can be built to handle quite a bit. It's the tuning is the problem. TONS of parameters from what I have read. 4l80 is still superior as far as power handling. Th400 is even stronger. Th350 prolly good for 600 at the wheels

Daily driving a 3 speed auto transmission with an unlocked converter is absolutely stupid and unpractical with rising gas prices. I think a 6l80 swap would be bad *** for DD use in a f-body.

I agree but it's nowhere close for my dd lol, it's a 383 stroker heads/cam/nitrous, I just wanted something that I don't have to worry about it going out every 6,000 miles or so, I've heard good things from the th400 and 4l80 both, was thinkin about just switching to a t56 also but I know my rear end would go out next with that route

The only real drawback to the TH400 and the 4L80e, in terms of performance, is the drivetrain loss.

If you really want a 6 speed auto look into the TCI unit. Its based off a 4l80 . It is expensive and you will need a contoller. paddle shifters are an option.

It has better gear ratios then a GM 6 speed.
