Default Buying healthcare insurance outside of work

My dad's work dropped their healthcare insurance and gave everyone a raise. Where can my dad purchase healthcare insurance? Thanks.

It'll be expensive, hope it was a hell of a raise. I'd suggest finding a good independant insurance agent to go over several options. Scott & White and Blue Cross/Blue Shield are popular and widely accepted in this area

I pay 1700 a month for my own insurance with my wife and 3 kids. It's not cheap.

Wow. That's expensive. Does that include dental?

I would advise against Scott and White, not super expensive but when i had them there were all sorts of places that didnt take them and all sorts of procedures that they didnt cover.

For example, to get tested for strep throat (the little swab process) not covered, all out of pocket if you have scott and white....

Alot of other bullshit like that i had to deal with with them

Hello
Thats really great that in your insurance they are providing you with dental as well as vision. But most of the time in health insurance they cover all the things. Now a days we can find low income medical insurance, this will help the people who are not in a position to buy such high medical insurance.

I did the non-group policy thing with BCBS and it was horrible. I think we were paying somewhere around $1000/month (no vision or dental) and it was horrible. Things that you are used to being covered no longer were (like labs). Be sure to read everything in there as to what is covered and whats not.

I have actually tried using obamacare when I was asked to provide insurance and they did not find it funny...

But as far has paying out of pocket for insurance, think rape.
