Default Purchased my first truck

I got an 06 silverado 2500 6.0 ecsb 4x4. It's kind of a dog with the gas motor but it's a solid truck 133k miles and I got it for $5300

I bought the truck yesterday and went to change the oil this afternoon and the ac delco filter I got did not fit. I called napa with the part number for the old oil filter and they said the old filter is for an 07 silverado not an 06

So something isn't right, did I get an 07 early model truck or did they swap the engine to a new 07 motor at some point? The number on the heads says 317

The old styles are pf46 and after 07 they use pf48 the only difference I've seen Is the newer style have a spring in them.

Can't tell, the door code information is rubbed off so the sticker is blank. Most of the stickers under the hood are Faded as well. The title should get back to me in a few weeks since I bought it from a dealer

CarFax says it's been registered in 2005.

The vin posted at the top of that classified page isn't the right one for the truck. If you scroll down to the bottom of the ad there is a picture of the vin 1GCHK29U56E143570.

Shows first registry event as 1/5/06. Also shows it was in Kansas then chickishaw Oklahoma. I'm not being picky about the truck as its stout and the drive train has zero stains or leaks. The u joints squeak when the truck is cold but that's about it. Factory exhaust on these things are huge, but so are the cats.

If anyone has a white tail gate or knows where I can get a good set of rock crawler wheels Please let me know

Yeah. I just looked at the first date on there. Purchase was reported in 2005 but I guess they waited to title it in 2006.

The newer engines use a PF48 filter with different threads than the old style. Sounds like Napa just gave you the wrong part number. Your truck should run the old style

It does not run the old style. I went into wal Mart twice exchanging the filter for the 2006 twice because I thought maybe the threads were messed up. Neither of the old style fit.

I had to call napa because it was the old filter on the truck and ask them what model vehicle the old filter was for and they told me it was an 07 filter. I then went back to Walmart and bought the 07 ac delco and it fit no problem

Who knows, could have been a fleet truck and they changed it for some reason. The LY6 in my C10 came from the factory with the PF48 (new style) oil pan. It was a pullout from a fleet. They had replaced the oil pan with the older style for some reason.

Good to know. I believe that's the closest I can get to a firm answer, I appreciate your insight!
