I agree that anything low 12's and quicker is considered fast for a daily driven car. 10's or faster would be really fast but you dont really see cars that fast being driven every single day (not to say some ppl dont). Take my car for instance, after having several toys throughout the years i got away from racing for about 5 years and just daily drove a Nissan Titan. Right after i paid it off i said screw this, i need something fun i can drive every single day and not break the bank. Bought a cobra but decided it wasnt me and then went with a basic Fbody build and never looked back. Drive it around 300 miles a week and barely ever even pop the hood, drive to the track as is and run mid-high 11's. Ive punched off with anything from vettes, viper, cobra, lambo etc and havent been beaten yet lol so it takes something pretty fast to outrun an 11 sec car on the street.

even a factory ls1,2,3... car is plenty for daily traffic. my stock 5.3 in my trans am is less power than ls1 and is plenty to move around with. i will admit that more power would be awesome, but still i have plenty for my dd. opinions will vary.

12s are slow as hell. 11s are respectable for commuter cars. 10s are the best all-around balance between speed and reliability. 9s would be considered a fast daily driver, in Houston.

It depends on what side of town you are driving most of the time. Certain areas are better off financially and can afford c6 vettes and other areas they spend the money on getting trucks. 500+ should be fine. Won't win them all but can have a lot of fun

Thats what im saying. Im talking every single day, like the only car you own and drive daily driver. 11's in something like that is respectably fast to me.

IMO It's because that's faster than 98% of the rest of the daily traffic, and in reality that's who you're up against. It's not like you fight to get around a slow-poke who's driving a 800HP car just waiting for you to test him at every turn. If you need a nine second car to make good time in traffic then you suck at driving in traffic. It's not about what's possible, it's what's fast enough to be "fast" without a struggle.

This is why I have a love/hate relationship with Houston. 5 Years ago my car could hold its own against the majority of street cars I would run against at the meets. Now I would have to take my bike out just to hang with a fast houston street car...

In my opinion, a mid/high 11 second car is pretty damn quick for a daily. I'm thinking about selling my bike and doing a TT 390/399 build for the Denali, maybe then I'll be able to hang with some of the slower DD's you guys have
