Need advice on 2002 ranger
Need advice on 2002 ranger Just FYI I posted this on 2 ford forums and in two weeks no response so figured I would come here since everyone has been so helpful on my TA and figured someone could offer some advice.
Ok for about a week now I've been having some issues with truck starting. Plenty of power but not firing. Last time I had this issue ended up being the inertia switch. After being replaced boom good to go for about 6 months.
Now, Same thing, tried resetting inertia switch, nothing
Check the fuel pressure 65 psi boom starts right up.
Sitting about 3 days again same thing. Inertia switch is good but this time when cranking, it sounds like its skipping a beat. Just replaced camshaft position sensor, nothing. Go to check fuel pressure and after hooking up gauge, key on, 65 psi and cranks right up.
I just replaced the cam synchro shaft. Started up. Turned off no sound from fuel pump at all. Ive got power at the inertia switch plug in and at fuel pump connector. Is all that's left the fuel pump? Relays check out good and all.

def. appreciate the input but I don't think the 2002 ranger has one. Sounds like the newer equivalent to the inertia switch. Looked all over google and such with no luck for that part.

Nevermind, the ranger doesn't use one. The 04-08 F150 does, but not that one.
yea im thinking fuel pump since it doesn't kick on but has power at all connections... when it does prime it starts and runs great till I kill it which makes me second guess
will it not start on the first start? is that the problem? maybe check to make sure the fuel pressure reg isn't leaking down unless the fuel pump isn't priming at all... good luck

sometimes it will start right up but others hours later no priming. I thought about leak down being an issue but pass it by when it starts after a day or two sitting. Ive got a fuel pump coming and gonna replace it either way. And craigslist sounds great but prolly letting my girls son have this truck since hes about to turn 16 soooo....
i hear ya. i had an 02 Edge for about 5 years in Hawaii with no issues. after those trouble free years every single electrical component aside from the passenger window motor died. sold that thing quick bc it was gonna break me for sure.
electrical problems = pulling out all of your hair.
fuel pump is done... started right up, drove fine, and started multiple times after hopefully problem solved.... But I learned a valuable lesson. Everytime I had FP problems in the past, that was it. No starting or anything... guess they can give a little life every now and then on there way out. thank you for all the help and Ill keep posted up on problem solved or not
