Default Moving to San Marcos in July

If anyone knows of anyone renting or leasing a house or duplex I am moving to San Marcos in July and am on the look out.
Not too picky just need a garage, yard and 2 or 3 bedroom and bath.

Thanks
Preston

I haven't found a place here yet... It's hard to find a decent place that isn't outrageous or has restrictions..

Will you be working in San Marcos? There are other areas close to there as well... New Braunsfels, Buda, Kyle... I live in Wimberley and my wife commutes to San Marcos every day, not that bad of a drive at all.

I live in San Marcos too. You'll have to a search a little. Its a college town so most places are rented out.

DSIM, your close to me. I'm out near the 32/12 split. How good are you at electrical stuff? I might need a little help with my S10 swap.

My daughter is moving to San Marcos in July/August as well. I'll be looking for a similar place for her. OP if you find a good property mgr / agent, please let me know.

Everything out there is outrageously priced. $850 for a 1br/1bath 650sq ft apartment. HAH!
Many of the apartments are **** too, because they know they can take advantage of college students.

He is right. I am paying 609 for my apt. but I'm a 10 minute walk from my classes. My rent is 579 for my room and 30 for my parking. I have my own attached bathroom as well. My room goes for 749 now I'm just locked in at my rates. Is sad that they are up charging so much...

Welcome! Like everyone said, it'll be difficult.

I work in San Marcos. I rented out the bottom single of a duplex for 6 months. Half of a 2-car garage, no yard, all utlities paid for $850.

My girlfriend and two labs moved down and the place was obviously way too small. We looked around in San Marcos, but nothing has a garage (or if it does, it's outrageous expensive).

I'm up in Kyle (Plum Creek) now - two car garage, small yard, takes me less than 20 minutes to get to work. Sometimes if I'm feeling fancy I'll even ride my bicycle down. The rent is a little high considering how 'reasonably priced' the house is, but that's Central Texas for you. We also only use the Master but we have two spare bedrooms - I guess they think if you need a two car garage, you've got youngins running around. Kind of nice when friends come in to town, though.

Good luck in your search, but don't rule out Kyle - it's perfect for me as I'm going up to Austin usually at least once a week.
