Default 2001 SS (talk me out of this)

So, I have a chance to pick up a perfect (21K mi) 01 SS from a friend of mine that owns a local speed shop. This car has spent most of its life sitting between 2 shops... Big shops and i'll not mention the name. It is a fully built "former" twin turbo car with all of the goodies.
Complete BMR suspension
Tubular K member
Tq arm
upper control arm
lower control arm
relo brackets
adj phr
SFC's
Car also has
complete fuel system that supports up 1000hp
Moser/Strange 12 bolt 342's < 500mi
high end radiator (dewitts/griffen)
Long tubes,
Borla
elec cut outs

The car itself is a 10 out of 10 in both exterior and interior. The original LS1 with 21K was put back into the car as the built engine blew. The owner decided to put the car back to stock ( motor wise) and leave everything else. It was also originally an M6 car... He converted to auto for drag racing and the Turbos. The M6 is back in the car and a couple of the syncro's are on the way out ( 2nd and 3rd).

I don't care about drag racing.... so "if" I were to pick it up I would most likely sell/trade the 12 bolt, Tq arm... The guy abandoned the car and refused to pay the shop ( unknown reasons) the car has been in storage for the past year and a half being started and driven regularly.. I drove it and it runs/drives great!! I can pick it up for what the guy owes the shop. Without revealing price, i'll just say I can get this car for more than $6K but less than $8K..

Its a perfect car w all of the goodies that most of us do anyway. Only down side is the trans.... that's really it. I currently own 5 cars! I don't really need another and I don't want to sell any of my current rides.

What would you do if you had the money (which I do).

What would I do? I would purchase the car. To talk you out of it, send me the information and you won't have to worry about purchasing the car anymore (WIN WIN SITUATION). Then you could buy the FM5s in the classifieds for your newly acquired WS6 to reward yourself for saving some money and helping a fellow member out.

Get that car, pull the LS1, sell it, use funds to subsidize the trans refresh and an upgraded motor. Drop in an LS3 or LSA and call it a day. The LS1 will feel sluggish pretty quickly, except compared to that LT1. Keep the suspension, though frankly, the shocks are the most critical component for a DD, followed by sway bars.

I suffer the same dilemma every time I find a good deal on a car I like. Lack of time for all of them keeps me somewhat at bay.

As a guy that has 7 vehicles, I would say get it if you really want it. If there is anything that makes you think you won't enjoy it then don't.

Sounds to me that you can at least flip it.

Thanks for the replies... As funny as they are.... I got a pretty good laugh.
I am well versed on these fbods... As some of you know I flip a lot of them. I have not had one with ALL of these upgrades... ( 12bolt, fuel system,tq arm)... I am used to nice shock, lowering springs, adj phr, lca's,sfc's, heads, cam, stall (A4) etc......

I think I am going to pick it up.... find a nice 10 bolt with the 342's, lose the 12 bolt, Tq arm, rebuild the trans and perhaps throw it on Ebay....

Regarding my slow LT1 WS6..... I bought this strictly to enjoy.. I get comments everytime I drive it ( 3x since I bought it) lol... two of my neighbors want to buy it. think I'm gonna hold on to this one. I do like the FM5 idea though!!! those wheels are sex!!

I'll post pics if/when I pick it up.....

If my car didn't have a narrowed rear end I would seriously consider those wheels for mine.

Id have no problems swapping my factory m6 10 bolt for your 12 bolt. PM me if/when you get the car and we can work something out.

Oh, and even if I wasnt interested in the rear end (hell id love to have the whole damn car for that kind of price!) Id definitely vote to buy it, regardless of how many other cars you have.

Seriously, your title "talk me out of it" was comical enough all by itself, given the audience.

talk me out of this
Don't buy the car. If you do, you are a stupid dumb *** who beats women and children, but oddly enough, enjoys Hallmark movies. Owning this car will give you diabetes and chronic diarrhea. Women will see you in it and laugh. In turn, you will beat more women. Basically, owning this car will be the reason you end up in prison.

If it doesn't work out I have a friend that wants to sell me his Triple White SS Vert.... Saving these for one of those cars.... Or I may just throw them on my WS6...

Thank you for removing that temptation from me. After tomorrow, those were going to be hard to pass up. My wife had already told me that she wanted my black FM5's, so those would have gone on my SS.

You're welcome bro... I knew that someone would jump on them. They are "that nice", just as described. The tires are in great shape as well. Plenty of tread... IDK that I will need these MT ET Streets.... My little LT1 won't spin on ice so I may throw em on here or CL.
