Default DFW Cam and Valve Spring Install

Finally got my 6.0 LQ4 suburban and will be getting a cam for it next month. Been scouting around all the shops since I know a tune will be needed. The cam/spring install prices I have been hearing are straight up scary. I expected $500 for a tune but most places say $1k plus for a cam/spring install. Would rather not take the 1-2 days myself to do it, but at that price I might roll the dice. Any recommendations for a budget install aside from me turning wrenches?

I live in Houston. If you'd like to make the trip I can do it . What Cam/Springs are you going with?

$550 is what I charge for labor for cam/Springs

Thanks for the offer Mavn! I'll make sure to bring a raft to you as well. Hope you aren't getting the worst of Harvey. I was supposed to have a conference down there in November but we shall see if that continues.

Are they including the tune in the cam spring install for $1K+?

Or is it 1500+ for all?

Ouch. I was just confirming I read that right (the first post not the others' pricing).
