Which set of gears do i have?

I have a 99 Z28 A4, it has the stock 10-bolt...........I was just wondering how do I tell what kind of gears I have and if it is a 2 or 3-series carrier?? Thanks!

I think you have 3.23 with a 3 series carrier.

yea if i have 4.10 gears in the z06.. what RPM would it be at at 40mph in 4th gear??

or is there an easy way to tell?

If its still stock, it should have 3.23's w/ the 3 series carrier.

check ur rpo codes its thier the ones that start with a GU_. But more than like ly u have 3.23's. 3.23 and 3.42 are 3 series carier. 2.73 is 2 series carier.
GU5 is 3.23
GU2 is 2.73
GU6 is 3.42

Insomniak just follow this formula.
[(gears)*(tranny ratio)*(mph)*(336)]/(tire size)= rpm

or you call a dealer with your vin number and they will tell ya. thats what i did

Ok here let me give u an example. This is my car
[(3.73)x(.7)x(70mph)x(336)/(24)=2558.78rpm
3.73s are my rearend gear
.7 is the tranny ratio for overdirve (A4)
70 the speed
336 is a constant
24 is the hieght of my tire ( smaller than stock)

2588.78 is the rpm that i am at with 3.73's in OD at 70mph with 24in tall tires.
