anyone switch over to a carb'd LS1 yet??
I was reading the new issue of Engine Masters and they converted an LS1 to a single plane intake and a demon 750.. with pretty good results i might add. I'm going to be performing this conversion at the end of next spring.. just wondering if anyone else has done this?
The next thing.. that they didn't mention in the article is.. will it go back into a fbody .. ?? I would think the firewall would be in the way.. but i'm gonna do some checking... any inputs from you guys would be appreciated.
Devin.

I've seen it in a f body camaro. I believe you have take the headlight motors out and cut almost all the way up to the glass and the hood doesn't clear unless you get a 2+ cowlhood(sp). The car I saw ran alright haven't seen it in awhile. Good luck

yeah forget about your windshield wipers, well you might be able to get away with one of them, or maby both with two motors, but the stock system will have to go. the same thing would apply if you tried to put a roots style blower (like are available for a vette) on an f-body. the cowl comes out so far you could almost call out cars mid-engine

yea, i would def. have to get rid of the SS hood and put a stocker there to cut a big hole in .. lol.
I don't think carbs are better/worse than EFI.. on the dyno the graphs looks almost identical in the curves.. but the MSD ignition will cover the pesky stuff of crank sensor, coil packs, cam sensor and even a MAP sensor that will allow some vacuum advance.
I think i'll have to do some measuring and talk to the folks at GMPP... i'll post up the details the more i know.

I'm not real familier with the LS1's, but I know on a Mustang converting to a carb set-up allows better and easier tuning. Plus installing a N.O.S. Fogger or a Plate kit would be a piece of cake.

yea, i've run a lota hose on this car before (cost me a block.. lol) i am gona look at the cost on both sides of the setup.. I plan on doing a 402 ci with the conversion or like you said.. i've dabbled on the idea of doing a 382 w/ turbo.. havent' quite decided yet. But thanks for the input Ross.
The easier tuning was a bonus.. i'll have to really check and see what the MSD is gona do.. esp, with a 402ci.. i think there cookie cutter 6 prog's may not be ready for as much air as i'm gonna put through her.
