I've been signed over!

My parents signed their parental blessing for me to join the Corps this morning. I am stoked about all this. I will be spending all day Monday at MEPS taking my ASVAB and getting my physical and stuff, then at the end of the day is my swearing in. Still haven't picked my MOS yet, but I am thinking of being a comm dog! :D Just thought I'd share. :usa:

I was looking into aviation, but I wouldn't get to fly because my vision isn't good enough. :(

I think he meant as a passenger - my sister's husband has bad eyes and was a crew chief in the AF for ten years. He went all over the world - Spain, Puerto Rico, England, Italy...

Besides, if you get trained in the military to fix planes, when you get out you can get hired by Boeing or Lockheed or whoever to be a civillian expert - HUGE $$$$$$.

God Bless you and keep safe whatever you do.

JackZ28 Feb 26, 2005 03:14 PM

Good luck in boot camp. :D

Oh, I thought he meant he got to pilot. If I were in a plane, I would want to be flying it or jumping from it. :D:D

And thanks.

Try to get into intel/ comm security or something somewhat technical...it may help more in the civilian world if you don't plan on going career. I was in the Army Signal Corps & loved it, I had a Hummer with a 'shelter' on the back. It was a big friggin camper with loads of radio equip. We put up antennas & after we were setup it was pretty chill. Marines probably use more portable units since they probably see more action & aren't as mechanized as the units we supported.

djfuzzy Feb 27, 2005 03:55 PM

Thanks for the info, Mod, I'll look into it. Tomorrow I am going to talk with the Staff Sargeant from the Willowbrook recruiting office who was a Comm Dog and get more info on the comm jobs.

Modsquad Feb 27, 2005 04:52 PM

It may be different for the Marines, but eitherway, just try to get into something somewhat technical. It will only help you in the end, perhaps get on with the secret police/CIA/FBI, something like that if you ever wanted to.

don't do comm man. it sucks big time. tell them you want to be an 0352. grunt on wheels where else are they going to let you shoot a 22500 missle. good luck in bootcamp. if you get out to Lejeune shoot me a pm there's a good f-body club out here.

djfuzzy Feb 28, 2005 06:41 AM

Haha, not too sure I want to do infantry, but I have been informed that if I want to switch MOSes after combat training, then I just have to kiss a little ass. So I could end up over there. ;) And I have to buy another F-body before I become part of an F-body club. Haha.

far as changing MOS's it's not that easy bro. I don't know what he's telling you. Do something you're going to enjoying waking up to every morning. I've been doing this for 13yrs now. Make sure what ever it is it's on your contract. You're going to enjoy it man it's been 13 fun years for me been around the world two times already and been :chug: in just about ever country i've been to. try and get a few people to join with you that way you can come out of bootcamp a PFC or LCPL. trust me it's worth it.

LastYearZ28 Feb 28, 2005 11:41 AM

Thank You...you all are true heros.

May you be safe, and you and you family be blessed.
