Security Light?

Security Light? It's only happened a few times - but my security light is staying on. I dont have my manual in the car, so I haven't had a chance to look it up, anybody know what it means?

Usually it means that the Ignition switch terminals are not making contact with your key (that black pellet that is in the key). Sometimes you can clean the contacts with air/electric contact cleaner in the switch where the key goes and get it to live a few more months, but eventually you'll have to replace the ignition switch itself.
I've also seen the wires to the switch break apart and loose contact. That also will need the switch replaced. (Its actually called a lock cylinder/tumbler...etc.)

i don't want to hear anything from you. I had a strange dream last night..something about a crazy *** ex and a 6 page letter. A huge permanent marker was also involved.

Me and my sister have gone through this....I just used the spare key that came with the car and that done the trick. Chances are that the switch/tumblers are worn some, but It may just be the key/pellet is worn too much. (keys are made of a softer material than the tumblers....in most cases) Like Joseph said eventually you will have to replace it. That being said, it has been over 2 years since mine done that and it's still working great and I havnt had to replace it yet.
Word of advice, if the spare key does do the trick, have a copy of that key (original) made and then put it up and dont use it, copies of copies of copies lead to trouble. kinda like MULTIPLICITY
