Houstonians. Let's all take this time to... make fun of Carlos Beltran. The season is almost over. Let's review his stats. Morgan Ensberg Games: 135 AB: 475 Avg: .278 HR: 35 Runs: 78 Hits: 132 RBI: 96 SB: 6 SLG: .564 Salary: $450,000 (USA Today) And for the losers that said get rid of Biggio...to make room for Beltran, etc. etc. Games: 133 AB: 499 Avg: .267 HR: 19 Runs: 80 Hits: 133 RBI: 53 (#2 hitter) SB: 11 SLG: .455 Salary: $3,000,000 (USA Today) |
True, True he has sucked ass this season, but at the same time he is LOL all the way to the bank. :jest: We need Biggio, get rid of Bags... |
Thats pretty WEAK. Any reason Beltran sucked this year? Dude was impressive before he left. |
The $$$$ got to him. |
He got fat and lazy on the untold millions. ;) Oh, and his team sucks..... :jest: |

He was awesome in the playoffs and very important to the Astros making it to where they were last season, but if I am Drayton McLane I am glad he isn't on my payroll for the next 6 years. |

Agreed....He is an awesome player however, but he is not worth sacraficing a whole team to keep. He was worth his money last year...... |

I agree that for the money it would have taken to keep Beltran the Astros are better off without him and can use the money that otherwise would have been going to him on other players. An even better comparison would be to look at Willy Tavaras' numbers. He's playing center field where Carlos would have been. Tavaras is a bargain in hindsight. |

beltran is a awesome 5 tool type player and we should not judge him on one year. he was a steal at last years salary....but is he worth his current contract...probably not. Berkman was the better player to sign long term |
nice comparison :thumb: |
