MLB F's it up again.

What a bunch of tools.

Willy Taveras doesn't get Rookie of the year. :gay:

Please explain this decision to me, given these stats.
"Taveras, who was voted by his peers as The Sporting News Rookie of the Year and the Players Choice Outstanding Rookie, hit .291 (172-for-592) over 152 games in 2005. He led all Major League rookies with 34 stolen bases, good for fourth in the National League.

Considered to be one of the fastest in the big leagues, Taveras led the Majors with 70 infield hits and 29 bunt singles. He led all rookies with 52 multihit games, 82 runs scored, 151 singles and 152 games played."

I think if he had shown some more spark in the playoffs, he could have pulled it out. Remember that alot of eyes were watching the series vs the Cards, and the World Series. Taveras was somewhat ordinary in those, nothing too spectacular.

Willy batted .333 in the WS. He had 2 runs, 1 stolen base and 5 hits consisting of 2 singles, 2 doubles, and 1 triple.
His cumulative postseason avg. was .349

One set of eyes that was watching him during the post season was Ryan Howard at home on his couch.

you wont get any sympathy from me, i think francoeur should have gotten it. :)

he only played something like 1/3 of the season and had a .300 avg. with 14 homers and 45 rbis! and defensively he led all right fielders with 13 assists and was second among all outfielders in the national league. i wish they would have brought him up sooner. :(

Chicks dig the longball, and Willie is not a power hitter. I'd like to see him get more base hits that aren't bunt singles. Still, the dude plays his heart out and is the kind of player that makes me forget about certain overpaid centerfielders who watched the World Series from his palace in Puerto Rico.

I think Willy definitely deserved to win the Rookie of the Year award. Its a shame that he didn't. We can take satisfaction that the Astros have a great, young centerfielder for years to come though. I think over time it will show that Tavaras is better than the other guys who were on the ballot.
