The Passport 8500 X50 is pretty good. I had one in my SS, and a V1 in the T/A. But after using them both I bought another V1 for my SS.

Here's a link:
http://www.escortradar.com/x50.htm

Its about $100 cheaper then the V1. But IMHO nothing beats a V1!

Peace,
Craig.

I have both a V1 and an Escort 8500 ..

the escort is in my expedition, if that answers your question.

Nothing wrong with the escort, just seems the V1 is a little better in the city.

The Passport 8500 X50 is what I'd go for... and if you can't pay the money up front go to Best Buy and see if you can get approved for a montly payment on one. Just besure to pay it each month or it will give you bad credit... In that case if they have the V1 there you might look into getting it that way.

I don't like how heavy the damn 8500 is. It's like a freaking brick compared to the V1.

I think the V1 is alot nicer in a few ways. Tells you where the signal is coming from, and how many signals its tracking.
The 8500 has a nice auto-mute option and the filter seems a litte bit better. But like I said earlier, I had to buy another V1 for my SS. That should tell you something right there.

Peace,
Craig.

I've had a V1 before, didn't like how bulky and ugly it was in the car. They really should update the face of that 1980s looking radar. Now I have two Escort 8500s, one in the Vette, one in the truck. They work just as well as the V1 did, but look better doing it.

Right about that. But, I just use another car as bait. Has anyone used the Bel Rx65 or 995?

another vote for the Escort. i have the original 8500, and i love it! i run it in the expert mode, so it shows multiple signals.

You can find an Escort 8500 X50 on ebay for around $250.00 brand new. The V1 is around $400.00 brand new. If I had the money I would probable go for the V1.

I would save my money and get a escort 8500. I would not have a lisence if I hadn't purchased it in 2000. Escort gets my vote.
