I guess I missed the call saying that speed meant you were an amazing drummer.

The guy has absolutely 0 heart in his drumming...its just speed and its boring.

I agree that its hard to see true talent and heart in this vid. Thats mainly because the whole point is to go as fast as you can. From a back to basics drummer's standpoint, his playing will seem like a robotic machine and quite inanimate, but thats the pitfall of doing straight up blast beats. Also his style could be cleaned up a bit, but hey hes 20 years old and playing on a $200 set, hes allowed a little leeway IMO. From my research, he has formal training in all forms of music and knows his theory. He gave up other pursuits simply for his pure love of metal. Apparently hes toured the globe with a handful of bands already so it seem to be working. By the time hes 30, he should be quite the player pending avoidance of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Another one by him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEDI99acZPY

Yeah, the fills are a little weak and you can accuse of him using speed tricks, but does that mean it isnt fun to watch?

For those interested, here are some other guys with undeniable skill

I never said he was a bad drummer....what he does is awesome, no doubt about that.
And for a speed drummer...I wouldnt see him having too much stiff competition, thats for sure.

But I wouldnt call a shred metal guitarist the best guitarist ever. Any day of the week I would pick a David Gilmour over a Dimebag Darrell just because you can really feel the music and appreciate all the nuances that are put into it....but to each their own

Or Eric Johnson over either, to each their own. If you want to watch someone play fast, check out Yngwie Malmsteen. He plays too damn fast.

Yngwie is crazy. EJ is a master. If I were going for the best overall guitarist I would probably say Andy Timmons. You can never go wrong with Satch. All great guys.
