Does anyone else think Houston's radio stations Suck??
I recently went to Austin and San Antonio and found stations that don't play the same 7 new songs over and over and over. I actually enjoyed listenig to the radio when i was there.

Yep. Dumbasses like Rod Ryan are what's wrong with radio these days. He's a 40 year old dorkass trying to play music and connect with people in the 16-30 year old audience.
I heard some stupid DJ chick on 94.5 the Buzz yesterday that said something about a member of a band at Buzz Fest was so "rock n roll, because he was all tatted up". If you judge someone's ability to rock on the amount of tattoos they have, you need to get the hell off of the radio.
That reminds me...I bought a brand new damn truck 2 weeks ago and it came with a year's subscription to Sirius Satellite radio and I haven't called to activate the damn thing yet. I think I'll do that right now.

Houston radio seems too corporate to enjoy, in other words owned by Clear Channel. I don't even know why they call it top 40, because most stations only play 10 songs over and over and over...It's sick. I've been to San Antonio and Austin and I'd have to say their stations just completely blow away Houston stations.

Houston radio sucks now. On one station you get to hear Rush and Pink Floyd's "the wall" about 30 times a day, and other other station (94.5) you might get lucky and catch a good STP, Pearl Jam or Alice In Chains song once a week. The rest of the time its emo and ****.
What I really love is how they'll always play some commercial with Pantera Cowboys from Hell or something in the background, but will NEVER play the song on the air..
I havent been to Dallas in a while, but I think its probably the same there since they killed the Eagle.

Right you are, Ken.
I go down to Houston every couple of months for a weekend, and the stations there are horrible. It's almost as bad up here. We have better stations, but far fewer of them, so you still hear mostly commercials. Since the death of the Eagle, we're pretty much screwed. The Edge has been playing crap lately.
I'm actually starting to change the kind of music I like simply because 100.3 JACK FM's new format absolutely RULES. They have no DJ's. They play a bunch of songs in a row and then get some commercials out of the way, and then repeat. They are the only station playing music in the mornings. Too bad I don't like a lot of the music they play. I'm starting to, though.
If every station went to JACK FM's format, XM and Sirius would be in trouble.

The morning DJ's the edge has are horrible. No music just these 2 dumb asses that are stuck in the eighties babbling on about nothing.

two words: radio sucks!
all music AM/FM radio, anywhere...it all sucks
some stations are just "OK" for a few minutes at a time, but if you listen to any radio station (for music) with any regularity.....it sucks.
the reason it sucks is because it's run by corporate pieces of **** who are doing it only for the money, to hell with having a show with any originality or variety of music....and any music that's worth listening to is edited......and on top of that, probably 50% - 60% of everything on the radio is ******* commercials.....
so yeah....CD's/MP3's are all i rock anymore, for a loooooong time, now
satellite radio (XM/Sirius) is totally something else, but then again, you pay for that, and i would rather just buy the music i like and be able to listen to it anytime, anywhere, instead of paying to hear something that i may or may not like, and can't play any particular thing i want, on-dmand, anytime i want....

Maybe its just me, but has anyone noticed how all the Clear Channel stations (pretty much all of em) tend to play commercials at the same time? Commercial comes on, so you change the channel, and lo and behold: more commercials.
