For an LS

Is it common for these things to crack on the casting on the bottom?

The LS water pump I have has been sitting on my shelf for over a year ... maybe longer.

I bought it when I thought I had a problem with cooling. turned out to be a combination of a walmart trash bag between the condensor and radiator and an idler giving up the ghost.

LMK ...

Did you actually see the crack or was the water coming out of the weep hole at the bottom?
