iv herd of people doin that in the north so when they break the front tires wont just lock up and slide on the ice, the chains will help catch the ice and slow/stop the car..

but i dont give a **** i live in texas

I drove up north for 16+ winters and BELIEVE ME you do NOT want the front tires doing the work stopping your car. That is the FASTEST way to get that car to spin around and around and around....

A front wheel drive car is almost as bad - engine braking is WICKED - it will turn your car around before you can even THINK "oh ****" let alone say it.

Either way, Mr. Tire Chains is a freaking idiot!!!

I don't think there is a way to prevent the front brakes from doing more work unless your using your e brake
