Default Should I strip it down for the track?

A buddy said I could borrow some slicks and skinnies. So, I'm thinking of stripping the car down for the track and see if I can make up some time w/out the a/c, interior, muffler, and running a short belt. Do you think it's worth it? I ran an 11.88 @ 118 w/ a 2.0 60' last time out on street tires with chrome ZR1's (17x11 rear) full interior and everything. Do you think I can shave 9 tenths? How much is it to recharge the A/C, and how strict is HRP on the no cage rule? thanks in advance...

No. What kinda of car is a car if you have no AC or street credit. My car runs 7.20 @ 94 mph N/A on 17inch Rims on BFG Drag Radials. Everyone thinks I spray it. But it stragiht motor.

Keep in street car trim

Just tell yourself you could probably run a little quicker if the car was lighter. I'd just be too dang lazy to take off my A/C and gut my interior to run a couple of tenths faster only to go back home and have to re-install everything.

I would just run it as normal and know that you can probably squeeze a little more out if it if needed.
is there a need for it now?

I've got the time so that's not a problem, and it's pretty easy to do. I'd run a short belt to bypass the power steering. I'd leave the p/s all on the car because I don't want to mess with that, or should I??? I would put it all back on, so it would be just for the hell of it? I already know what it runs in street trim. How much do you think I could shave off my e/t w/out all that stuff?

If you are going to take off the A/C, you should go ahead and take off the P/S too. Thats alot of work , I dont think it will get you in the 10's if thats what you are trying for..I would just throw a 75 shot on it and be done..

Why dont you go with the a/c on and the slicks and see if you can pull a 10 second 60 first. Then you can decide on whether or not its worth it.

That's kind of what I"m thinking. I was just wondering what you guys thought. It's no big deal to pull the stuff off then put it back on later. This isn't daily driven. Only thing I have to have done is the a/c recovered and refilled.

I'm figuring .1 off the bottom is .2 off the top and every 100lbs off is .1. I know it's not exact but it's pretty damn close to a 10.99 if I cut around a 1.65, which I've cut a 1.7 on dr's before, and shave 200lbs off the car, and looking at the diet list in the drag racing section it looks like I can do that no problem.

And I don't get to go to the track very often. Just some buddies from OKC are coming down and I don't want to be slow. One is a 427LS1 and the other is a cam only M6 that runs mid-low 11's and he is stripping his car down.

I've also heard that it really depreciates the value of the car when you start gutting it out...

No front swaybar, bumper support, and slicks should put you pretty close.

I only run my car the way I drive it on the street, means more to me that way.

Ah,,, I'll just add power and a built bottom end next year. I think if I strip it I'll get bit by the lazy bug and not put it back together. Thanks for all the input. I just needed help talking me out of it. It's a street car like you guys have said...
