Default Would anyone be interested in helping me install my head unit this weekend?

I scored an Alpine IVA-W200 at a hell of a price yesterday evening and I plan on installing it this weekend. Electrical isn't my best quality when it comes to mechanics and whatnot, but I'd feel better installing it if I had someone to help me that knows how to do installs. I have various assortments of electrical connections, tons of tools, including a crimper and volt meter. Anyhow, I'm located in Alvin, which is on the southeast side of Houston. So if anyone would be interested, please let me know. Thanks.

I'm figuring out what adapters/harnesses I'll need for the install and should have them by this weekend. I have 2 solder guns as well, but I want to knock this out this weekend.

If you get the wiring harnesses it's just plug and play.

A harness is the way to go, but you still must connect the Plug kit to the alpine plug...If you were closer to Spring I could Help you out....I am already hooking up some underbody L.E.D kit for my little girl....I know but she likes it..lol

What wiring harness are you guys referring to?

On the other board I'm on, they're saying I need these adapters:

SWI-ALP (steering wheel interface for Alpine)
0S2-Bose
TR-7 (bypass so that you can watch DVDs while truck is in park)
Chime module (don't know the part number)

If you dont know what to get go to a stereo shop and ask them. then once you get home with your harness and install kit. you will take the harness off of the deck. then you will match the colors up on the harness you got from the stereo shop. then you just need to get your install kit out and use the correct plastic cage to bolt in. its really easy. if you can work on a car then you should be able to install a cd player. If you have any questions I will do what i can to get them answerd in a timely manner.

IT's not that hard to do man. Really. Just read the directions. With what you have it's as plug and play as it get's. You may have to do a little trimming on the dash kit, but that's about the hardest thing you'll do.

With the Harness wiring, just follow the directions. Literally. It'll tell you what to wire up and what not to wire up. If you have any other Questions about what you are getting into, PLEASE go to the stereo section. Many people have been in your shoes before. I was once. But, it's like skydiving. Looks scary as **** then it's addictively easy to do.

If you would like to come over to my house (pearland) Around 3 I will help as I put my sons bed together. I havent done a head unit in my LS1 but I have taken the radio out a few times and have done a few head units in my 82 and 96 and a few other cars. Its really not that hard as long as you have all the right harnesses.

There should be NO cutting done on the car side of the harness. All the splicing/wiring should be done between the harness and the stereo.

I ended up doing it myself. It was easier than I though. I was intimidated at first having everything laid out, because there are SEVERAL wires, but most of it was color coordinated. I'm glad I got all the adapters/harnesses I needed.
