car wont start..

Default car wont start..

was installing a shift light today and had it all wired up but couldnt get the light to work and somehow in the process crossed the tach wire and ground wire and heard something short out and smelled something burning. now car wont start. any ideas? all other electronics work too, just the ignition wont turn.

Maybe you don't have something grounded or it burned a ground. Your tach signal also maybe screwed. Hopefully it did not burn up the harness.

check your fuses? you need an volt meter. You need to find out if your aux is hitting 12v DC when you turn the key foward. Hopefully its a fuse!

edit: looked again and it must have been the power/ground that crossed. also everything works but ignition and odometer/trip

look under you hood at the fuse box or relays. check the voltage coming in. Your harness goes to your passanger side under the mat and into the motor comparment and in to the ECM. so I hope it's not your ECM. do you have stick? If so you can try to push start it and see where you are at. Maybe it could be a control module? I just want to know if your ecm can keep your car ideling right, that would be a sure give away.

sorry, was in a hurry and figured this section would get more exposure

yes its a 6 spd, dont have a voltmeter and its too late to do anything tonight, i'll push it down the street and have a shop look at it.
