Default Dyno results from my Coupe today, Very Dissapointed with results, this sux!!??

Well, I took the coupe to the dyno today and had it dyno'd so I could tune it by jetting/timing, but I NEVER expected the results.. Here's the details..

Stock LS1 Block with Crank
Scat I beam rods
Mahle -4cc Pistons (forged)
.40 Cometic head gaskets
Texas Speed PRC LS6 CNC Heads with dual springs and tit retainers (new design, Milled to approx compression 11.5:1)
Texas Speed MS4 Camshaft
TSP Hardened pushrods
Victor Jr Intake
Proform Race series 750cfm carb
MSD 6010 Ignition Controller box
Custom Accell plug wires
Stock Coils
Stock Rockers
Stock Lifters
Stock water pump, pulleys, alt, etc
1 5/8" Long Tube headers (custom made)
3" trual duals with 3" Bullet mufflers dumped before the rear
Hughes Flexplate
BTE TH350 Trans with full manual valve body
TCI 4200 Stall with anti-baloon plate for nitrous
B&M 28,000 btu trans cooler
Stock 8.8" rear with locker and 3" moroso studs
FRPS 4.10 Gears
15x3.5 Weld draglights front
15x8 Weld draglights rear

RACEWEIGHT is approx 2950 with me in it.

Here's some results info, I'm sure I'm leaving some other mods out, but I can't think of them.

Ran the coupe last thursday and best I could get was (1/8th mile):

60ft - 1.78 (spun pretty hard, no track prep, not even burnout box water)
1/8th et - 7.12
1/8th mph - 99mph

I had to let out of it a few times being the 1st time to run the coupe, so I never got a complete pass. Anyways, on to the dyno..

Dyno is a DYNOJET performed at USA Motorsports

1st Dyno pull : 6200rpm pull

33 Deg of timing, map bar 1, Jets 76 front, 84 rear
361.75rwhp @6200rpm
322.62rwtq @5200rpm
(A/F 11:9 4k - 6k)

2nd Dyno pull : 6200rpm pull

36 Deg timing, map bar 2, Jets 76 front, 84 rear
361.36rwhp @6200rpm
325.42rwtq @5200rpm
(A/F 12:1 4k - 6krpm

3rd Dyno Pull : 6200rpm pull

36 Deg timing, map bar 2, Jets 76 front, 78 Rear (lean it out a little)
376.42rwhp @6200rpm
328.45rwtq @5200rpm
(A/F 12:9 4k - 6krpm)

Final Pull : 6500rpm pull

36deg timing, map bar 2, Jetsv72 front, 78 rear (just messing with it)
383.25rwhp@6500rpm
322.93rwtq@5200rpm
(A/F 13:4 4k - 6.5krpm)

Yeah, I know that is dissapointing, I just cannot figure it out. How can I trap a near 100mph trap speed in the 1/8th but only manage to put down 361rwhp and a weak 322rwtq??????????

I am thinking something has got to be wrong with the dyno, but what could be wrong??? I sounded very nice on the dyno, sat down hard when he hit it and jumped up when he let out of it, no cutting out and smooth hp/tq curves.

Should I take it to another dyno??? As anyone in my place could imagine, I am not happy. ANY info will be appreciated

Dont quote me but I think that trans u are using robs hp and a high stall makes number seem lower than normal.

Oh ya, its not showing ALOT of it because of the stall. You could probably throw about 40 on top of those numbers and that's more like it.

you have a heads cam car with a big ineffiecent stalled th350. those aren't bad numbersalso, how much air was in the slicks when you dynoed?

ALL true, dyno's should be used as tuning devices only. Let the track #'s do the talking.

Welcome to the world of manual valve body transmissions. They are definitely not dyno queens. But are you happy with the track results? Thats what really matters..

also, i'd think the headers might be a little small for what you have...

It's mph'ing so well because the car doesn't weigh anything. I would look at the cam. While it is awesome for an EFI car, you need something that is going to bring the torque up. That cam in the motor below is on a 106. It does fine on the bottle too.


If you can't get it sorted out, I've got a junkyard 351 with heads/cam that made 450rwhp/400rwtq that I can sell you

i think theyre decent numbers for a big stall th350 trans car, track times are where theyre at though

definitely not what I was expecting. really not close to my 400 guess. a little short. stick to track numbers but if you want take it to a differnt dyno

Think about this for a second and please also post the graphs...

The MS4 cam has an intake lobe in the .650's correct? If the heads you have fall dead in the water you will lose power. I believe those heads go turbulent at .620 or right there abouts. And there are plenty of tricks with carb motors to make power. Just changing jets is very minute.

What plugs are you running in that car? You will get better results with a cooler plug and really lean on the carb tuneup. 36 degrees of timing is about normal for a carb setup. I gave you a persons number to get ahold of on Carb Tuning. He's the man and id bet youd see your numbers up even more if you had him go through the carb. Your not going to make near what others do since its a carb intake and carb setup. That heads/cam setup was strictly done with EFI in mind. Carb intake runners and CSA's are far different then FI stuff. its a very unmatched combo. You shouldnt be so disappointed.

The heads going sour after .600 dont hurt anything with A .650 cam. You are talking about the flow falling off 10cfm or so, and only at the very end of the engine stroke, for a short window of time. NOT your problem. 1 5/8" headers that probably overlap into your exhaust ports and choke it out, likely. Your exhaust ports are probably about 1.58-1.60 wide, which is basically the exact same as the O.D. on your header tube.

I agree on dynos being tuning agents only. The only true dyno is a motor dyno. Chassis dyno's are a tool for tuning. My nova dyno'd like 360 or something pathetic because im running a th350 with 5500 coan convertor and 4.88 gears but the ol gal about jumped off the damn dyno. dont be upset about that.You gained numbers by tuning the carb so now take it to the track and see what it can do.

Brandon if that was the case, Ill let andrew chime in so you can see his HUGE 40 hp dip from his ported TEA 1.5's and a MS4!!!

Peak powers didnt matter much but it falls dead on its face for about 500-700 rpms before and after 4800-say 5600 and picked back up til 6800 or so. Its a backing up port or a bad valve job. Both of which will cause the same problem in his car.

Dyno graphs posted now.. After I inspected the dyno sheets, he wasn't running the car like I asked. He was cutting it off short and it does like like I could give it some more rpm, 6800?? 7000??
