yes, that dude was quite the douche. Haven't checked salvage yards yet - I figured I'd get a better response and get better ideas if I posted here first. I've registered on crashedtoys.com the only sportbike they had was a gsxr600 for $3k in minnesota so add $500+ for shipping. Not quite what I was looking for. A friend of mine bought a wrecked 1000RR for $1500, needs all fairings except the front (i think - don't quote me on that) but for $3000 i could get a non-wrecked F4i on ebay!
I will def. check out gixxer.com and let you know if anything strikes my fancy

Depends on where you are. I have some wrecked parts for an 05-06 GSXR 1000. 
Like Darren said earlier, www.gixxer.com is a good place to get stuff. I found a million parts there when I was putting my bike back together. There is also a local place to DFW called Richland Moto that has tons of bikes, repaired, parts bikes, and wrecked.
