Default help please, asap. Idling at 2500 after TB swap

had TB ported and polished....

re-installed.

no vacuum leaks.

now the car idles fine at start up....put it in gear and drive about 10 feet and the idle will jump up to about 2500rpm.....come to a stop and it takes about 10-15 seconds for it to settle back down from 2500 to 1000rpm

any suggestions?

help....i'm scared!

anyone in NW houston that can help me with a hand held tuner?

i'm almost certain that it's not.

i opened and shut it by hand before i installed, and there was no interference what-so-ever....

althought heat would increase the interference....

how do i check this?

To do that don`t you just unplug the TB and turn the key off or on. Can`t remember and then plug it back in. Someone tap in here!

no,

i've done that.

All it does(i believe) is restore the current sensor to the computer(tell the puter its there) and then runs the factory sensor settings

I wouldn't think that just porting and polishing the throttle body would make that much difference that warrants reprogramming the PCM. I put a ported throttle body on mine and it was just fine. The PCM may need some time to "relearn" the new configuration. You might also try the little idle screw adjustment (you almost have to take the throttle body off to get to it) and try adjusting that. Some throttle bodies don't have the idle screw, but mine does.

When I got mine from Mark Shaner he told me to drive it arround giving it quick sudden bursts of throttle, while driving it. He said that it helps the PCM relearn it faster. I also drilled out the throttle blade hole bigger, which caused my idle to soar exactly like yours. So check that out and if yours was too just fill the hole with jb weld and redrill the hole.

It's getting too much air. If the hole hasn't been enlarged, try unplugging the IAC to see if it helps. If not, the throttle cracker table needs to be redone. I can do it for you if you want to buy a license.

make sure you put the "O" ring back on the IAC. If not, it will idle high.

Switch your old TB blade to your new one. See if that will help. Mine idled high at first few drives then it went to normal a few days later.

Is it still running smooth? It should get even better once it does some idle relearning.

some people when they port the throttle bodies open the blades and run the grinder under the blade causing the blades not to seal properly.. Dont do that but i see Alan got you fixed up!

I had to reduce his running air over 25%, zero out his throttle cracker and follower tables, as well as increase the spark reduction over 2* for idle overflare. If you tell me a stock PCM tune can compensate for that much bypass air around the throttle blade, I'd tell you to blow it out your ***! His VE table needs to be redone, but we're going to save that until he gets some other details taken care of.

Hey B, I was expecting to hear from you last week. I wanted to get your car all buttoned up. Have any idea when you want to do it?
