T56 woes

Seems that the T56 I bought is no good at all. Bought it knowing that 2nd gear was bad, and that was supposed to be the end of it. Anyways, the previous dude, I guess, left it outside and exposed. In turn, the inside had about 2 quarts of water in it and no fluid. No telling how long it sat that way, but the input shaft, 5 of 6 gears, bearing, syncros, drums, etc. Is ALL bad, nothing but the case is worth using. So now I need another one and was planning to have the car back on the road this weekend. After this mornings call from Jason at TDP its a real bummer. Anyone in the DFW area have a rebuildable T56 that isnt full of water? Or one that is recently rebuilt by a reputable shop, as in TDP or T56rebuilds? ASAP for the ******* win.

Bought it from a local guy, dont want to name names though. Paid $450 for it.

David, you goon, its fine. HA HA. The shifter is by no means near the top of my list as far as this car goes. If the thing doesnt work right, I will throw it in the trash. Not worth my gas to meet up with you to get back what I paid for it. Thanks though.

Yep, the rust alone ruined all the internals. It had been sitting long enough like that so it was pitting and the gears especially have started to decay. Counter shaft for that damn thing cost $600, and each set of bad gears are $100, for a total of $1K, not counting the bearing, syncros, and other stuff.

If you are interested in an awesome rebuild contact Trent at Specialty Transmission, he is the MASTER at transmissions and I know since my "race" car has had over 450+ passes without an issue in sight and makes over 500hp on motor. He also warranties them unless YOU burn them up.

No, I did work out a deal that Jason is going to give me something for it as a core. You know, its easy to say six speed inc, but I am not going to drive down there for a tranny, or pay shipping. My trans guy is here, I just need a decent core.
