Why red light cameras are GHEY>>>

Just got a notice for running a red light in Lubbock, TX on a car that I sold via the internet 2 years ago. WTF??? I've never even been to Lubbock. How the hell does that happen? Surely the guy transfered the registration? Now I get to figure this out dealing with the "contractor" that runs the whole red light crap in.... ARIZONA??? What in the HELL is going on here??? :bang: :bang: :bang:

Wow that is pretty weak.. Sucks man.

i heard red light tickets are not run by the police and you dont have to pay them...heard they are done by the electric company or something stupid i forgot...

Yes, it's a civil issue, but it can jack your credit up. If you don't pay it the "ticket" will be turned over or sold to a collection agency. I guess I get to deal with calls from them for the next 7 years because I'm not paying shit...

I have one of those at an intersection of a light on my way to work. Needless to say I got one and after looking into it I found that they are indeed not run by the police/government, but a private company. If you don't pay it after your second notice it will be sent to collections. So no help there.

Mine was only 90 bucks. That ain't worth fing up your credit.

Surely the guy transferred the title????

Think not. Thats alot more common than you think. It happened to my dad for a car he traded in to a dealership, the car was sold by the dealer to another guy and they never transferred titles, and this guy started racking up parking tickets, EZ tag Vio's and all sorts of shit. Cops kept hounding my dad, and had warrants out for him. Luckily he had all the paperwork and bill of sale and all, but it took forever for it to get worked out.

Splitz 08-01-2007 12:48 PM

damn, that sucks.

Did you fill out the correct form when you sold it? When I bought my beater from an individual he had a form with him and had to pay a $5 filing fee on the form.

It's 75, and a matter of principle. Just paying it admits guilt/liability, and I'm not donating that money to support some genious attempt to regulate red light infractions that doesn't work. I will have to prove that I sold the car in 2005 though.

But, how does someone go 2 years without transering the registration is what I want to know. :judge:

Yea, the law you must transfer and re-register the vehicle in 20 business days after the sale.

blackmaro99 08-01-2007 12:56 PM

In your case I would spend a couple of hours fighting it because that's about $75 bucks worth of my time. If the case is not closed by then I would pay it and move on. Shit happens.

TNormZ28 08-01-2007 12:58 PM

Well, if any of you guys up north go to Texas Tech and know Matt Wilson, Engineering Student I think, and he's driving a white 96 Toyota 4Runner. Tell him to go change the damn registration... BUT... If the registration had not been changed wouldn't I still be getting the reminders in the mail to update it, which I have not?

I did fill out the paper work but I assumed he would turn it in to do the transfer. Didn't even think about the fact that he wouldn't want to do that for any reason. He seemed like a good guy and his Mom was nice too.

TNormZ28 08-02-2007 07:05 PM

Well, good news. I got ahold of the guy and it's gettin' fixed.

TAEnvy 08-02-2007 07:14 PM

I still get warranty information renewal notices on cars that I haven't owned in several years! I sometimes wonder what the folks at some of these courthouses do when you go in to change over the titles to these vehicles with all of the paperwork?
