Default Z28 or SS ....Who cares?

I don't understand why it's a big deal if someone puts SS badges, wing, hood, etc on a Z28.

There's no difference between the 2 cars anyway. Same engine, transmission, rear end, etc...

Can someone explain why it even matters?

it only bug's people when they put the SS badge and pretend it's a SS, shows disrespect to the other Z28 people.

I dont think I would ever put SS badges on but I would definitely like to have an ss hood and wing. I dont think the badges are wrong unless you tell people its an SS, when its really not. You should make it clear that its an ss clone, still though, not a big fan of clones.

A clone of what? They're the same car. It's not like he's putting corvette badges on it.

It's not like putting cobra badges on a gt mustang. They actually have a different drive train.

Brandon, remember when you had your vette? Imagine someone putting Z06 emblems and wheels on one and claiming that it is one. It would make you want to point and laugh too. I think one should be proud of what they have enough not to claim that it is something else. Now, if a "Z" guy/girl wanted to put the hood or wing on, so what. Just dont claim that it is something that it is not.

Hell, I have c6Z06 wheels on my SS right now but dont claim it to be a Z06.

My dad used to have a 94z with the one in/one out flowmaster and we took the emblems off of it. Most people thought it was a 6 banger till I started it up. They didnt know that it was a full bolton car and pretty much a sleeper.

I don't really think it matters at all. Same car either way (hood, spoiler, lid) it's not like ur putting pipes and emblems on a V6. To me it's just what one wants.

Well at least on a Z06 there are numerous differences including the heads, intake (on some yrs), cam, exhaust, wheels, instrument cluster, brake ducts, suspension etc...

I just have a hard time seeing what people call a clone. A clone of what? What's the difference besides aesthetic stuff that you can easily buy and swap?

How could you tell a damn SS clone from an actual SS? There is a guy here in town who just bought a damn Camaro and he claims it's an SS but he doesn't have that Camaro SS badge that goes near the radio. Is there supposed to be a badge underneath the hood or some code in the VIN?

They are not the same car. Z28 and SS, different RPO codes. When you make a z28 look like an ss, thats pretty much the definition of a clone. Its the same car you say? Well then thats half the battle right there. Put badges, a hood, and a wing on there and you have yourself an SS clone.

Since the VIN number of an SS identifies the car as a Z28, are you cloning an SS or disguising ur Z28?

It does matter, the Z28 and the SS are two different trim levels. You can't slap all the SS crap on a Z28 and "create" your own SS, they are either born with the RPO code or not. Someday, these cars might be collectibles, and you will see that the guys who own a real SS will have a much more valuable car than a fake SS.

Why not make fake ones? Because **** like this happens to innocent buyers.

This debate has been done a few times, read this one:
