Re-Tinting Window's, How dark???

Im gonna re-tint my window's. The passenger side window tint, is starting to i guess let in air or something. It's happening at the bottom, near the side mirror's on the door.

I went with 30% tint, and i really dont like it that much. I see many car's driving around here with tint alot darker then that. What would be a nice dark tint to go with, 1 that these damn cops wont fuck with you for????

25%???

2001AntiVenom Feb 2, 2008 03:05 PM

im about to go 5% all the way around mine i think. : ) but i will probally get pulled over for it. : (

94TRANS Feb 2, 2008 03:06 PM

i went limo on the rear glass and 15% on the side windows and it turned out perfect to me, a lot of people go 5% all around and even tint their front windshild.

clean99 Feb 2, 2008 03:39 PM

I did 15% all the way around it its dark enough on the sides at night so I'm not seen. but I want to do 5% on the back because during the day it lets in more light then I want

Morbid Feb 2, 2008 04:03 PM

I had 5% all around on my old car, it was nice but sometimes at night it made turning corners a bitch (especially on dark streets.) I'm getting my car tinted next weekend with 5% rear and 20% sides.

25% is the legal limit by the way, most shops will go darker for a price.

Donohue96M6Z28 Feb 2, 2008 05:24 PM

I have 5% tinted sides and rear. Looks good, but can some times be a PITA driving at night/backing up at night etc. cant see shit.

even their front windshield... wtf?

I've only seen the top of the windshield tinted.. which iscommon. but I highly doubt anyone gets their entire windshield tinted.. I also think its illegal. and goodluck driving 5% tint on the windshield at night... you would not be able to drive anywhere unless you stuck your head out the window

ls1rocker Feb 2, 2008 05:54 PM

Yea i've heard of people tinting their windshields, its usually not much %, but it is illegal and not to common.

I have 15% on the sides and 5% in the back, works perfect for me

TXB4Z Feb 2, 2008 05:59 PM

not true. my friends cousin had double limo front and sides and limo windshield and fronts ( 2 door civic) and driving wasnt that bad. no sunglasses during the day and the lights from oncoming traffic made it easier to see. would i do it. no but it was still kinda cool.

LOL you werent lying... it looks good.. but would be a PITA for inspection/registration tickets and its just one more thing for me to worry about when it comes to cops looking at the car :bang:

no doubt lights outside your car would make it easier, but if you're driving on a dark street, theres no doubt that you wouldnt be able to "safely" drive.

Badguy7 Feb 2, 2008 06:48 PM

Thanx for the info guy's, ill probably go with either 15 or maybe 20%. This 30% crap wasnt as dark as i expected. 20% maybe dark enough for me, around here tho. There's a peice of shit state trooper, who stop's you for every lil thing. if your font license plate isnt on, he's gonna stop u. ur license plate light in the rear isnt that bright, he'll stop u cuz he think's its not on lol any fucking excuse to pull someone over, he uses lol

i dont think anybody would really want to roll down their window if there in the cold or rain, or cold rain with wind etc lol.
would look badass though i agree i kind of wanted to do it to my car but decided not to. usually when i see a cop i kind of crack the windows to let some light in so its not so dark.

chrysler kid Feb 3, 2008 03:28 AM

i have 5% al the way around and its not too bad except for at night on dark streets, you have to lean forward to look and double check where the corners are. go 5% on the rear and 15 on the doors. anything more than 20 is just a waste of money

5% on the sides and hatch and 35% on the windshield for all of these cars. i would go with 50 though for the front winshield, enough to get rid of glare but not enouggh to attract attention. when asked how these guys got the inspections done, they all said they just took the tint off before they went in and re did them after by themselves

I dont really see a need to tint the front windshield

Badguy7 Feb 10, 2008 08:20 PM

I decided im gonna go ahead with 15% tint. 5% will be way to dark for me, which is probably what my back window tint is. I just dont like how my window's dont go with the back window. It's a lighter shade, to a darker shade.

Anyone throw me a price for the 15%??? I know it was only $55 or $60 w/ tax just for 30% tint. Im sure this will cost me a bit more, but what price's did yall come out with???

I just laughed out loud when i pictured that :D

I've seen alot of people tint their windsheild completely with like a low-grade tine (30% and greater). It's really worth it to me, especially when you've got the sides at 5% and have this mass of sunlight still coming through the windsheild.

Plus, tinting the windsheild even slightly would probably make you not even need sunglasses.
