Default Car died....again...

I was at subway and backing out and all the sudden the car shut off. started it up again and the rpms were low, so revved the **** out of it and the idle went back to normal. went to park it and it dropped down again. and wanted to die. Not sure what the hell was up with it, the idle surges at times at traffic lights and feels it wants to die but after a couple revs its all fine.

not sure what this is..

Bring it by and we'll take a look at it for you.

Could be a lot of things. Initially, I would seriously recommend taking the time to do a long visual inspection of the engine compartment. Make sure everything is plugged in properly and all the hoses are connected as they should be.

I guess it could fuel related or induction related. Check fuel pump, TB, intake manifold is properly torqued down etc.

You might try to clean off your battery terminals.

take it to RPM and have them hook it up to a tech 2 so they can monitor everything. but from the sounds of it i'd take a stab at a bad IAC sensor...

Throwing codes? Recently port your maf by any chance? Recently charge your K&N filter by any chance?

I had my damn car literally do a similar thing the other day except it actually stranded me for like 5 minutes until it quite bitching enough for me to drive it home keeping the rpms at like 3 to 4k just to make it run. When I got home I cleaned the hell out of the MAF let it sit a while and all was well when I started up and has been fine for the past 4 days. I had my roommate charge my K&N about a month or so ago and I think the MAF must have gotten junked up. I also have a ported MAF so that could be it but I just think it was dirty as hell and started dumping way to much fuel.

Well, its done it before, and stabbin the gas tends to fix it right up. and it was funny, when the car died a bunch of high school kids in their new honda revved at me to move when it died.. they were startled when it started back up and i revved it.

if you just changed them, check and make sure they are all tight, and all the wires also.
verify they are nice and snug.

well if your RPM's are dipping low, then your oil pressure is going to drop as well with the oil pump running off the crank.
