I race a 96 Firebird in CMC 2. We just raced this past weekend at Texas World Speedway. 2 20 minute races on Saturday, a 40 minute race on Sunday and a 4 hour enduro Sunday afternoon.
5 hours from Houston ...
MSR-Houston is south of Houston on 281 near Angelton. The course is getting a little "wavey" going into teh turns. But it is very challenging and has some very high speed sections.
Texas World Speedway (TWS) is in Bryan/College Station about 90 mile north west of Houston on hiway 6. It's a 40 year old NASCAR track, patterned after Talledega, but morphed into a 2.9 mile road course. Under new ownership and many improvements have been made and on the books.
MSR-Cresson is just south of Ft. Worth about 5 hours from Houston. Very technical track with most turns off-camber. It's a blast, thouigh. They've added a 1.3 mile section and cross connected the existing 1.7. Haven't raced the 3.1, but driven it many times. It's a hoot.
No Problem Raceway is in Baton Rouge Louisiana and about 4 hours from Houston. It's a drag srtip with a road course added on. it's narrow and tight. Not a lot of room for passing. The road base is made from what appears to be shale. I came away with lots of small cuts in my tires.
Cabeness (sp) is an ols air strip near Corpus Christi. The Porsche club controls it and has open track session there fairly often. I've never been, but here it's got a LONG straight ...
Lone star i will never attend because John Hennassay is behind it.
Outside the 5 hour radius is eagle's Canyon near Decatur which has just opened. Hallett Motor Racing Circuit is near Tulsa, OK. It's a heckuva drive, but is probably a track that yields the most fun.
You left road atlants, probably one of the most famous road courses around and Barber, a freaking show place. Nothing here compares to that. but we certainly have a lot of fun.
