Default Anyone know a painter that can paint my car for 1000$?

I'm looking to paint it back to the same green but want the roof and mirrors painted green too. I have a silver hood right now. Here is what I need.

Front bumper paint chips smoothed.
Hood painted from silver to green.
Molding removed.
Primer SS spoiler painted.
Roof and mirrors painted green.
Rest of car roughed and painted.

macco.

if you seriously want it painted p.m. me but 1000 barely covers materials. you have to be realistic man. not everyone can paint, and not everyone who can paint, wants to paint. there are reasons for that and all reasons for it are costly.

I paint for a living and paint materials cost for good quality stuff have gone through the roof over the past 2 years(oil costs). Your looking at $750-1000 in just materials.. macco can do it cheaper with the crappy materials they use, but it wont last...or look that great either...

$2000K min. for a halfway decent job if your lucky and find a good painter who wants side work..

Considering his car might fetch $4.5k on the open market, I'd be hesitant to spend $2-4k on a paint job as well.
Go to Maaco and be picky with them. Enjoy your decent paint job for a couple years, then sell the car while the paint is still good.

Maaco paint jobs last about 1 year in the sun. Hope you have a garage and a lot of wax.

Have you had one or know someone who has had a Maaco paint job? I find that hard to believe.

Buy your own paint and clear coat then have Maaco paint using that (unless U need alot of body work) Have a friend who had his 67 Tempest done like that, lasted years and looked flawless. Its the crappy paint Maaco uses thats so bad, so give them the good stuff to use

the good stuff will chew up his 1000 dollars really fast.... and there is more to painting a car than just putting paint on it. you can have amazing gloss and good reflection with little orange peel but if you have tape lines on your weather striping and little subtle things like that it will make the paint job look second class. im not sure that 1000 dollar job will bring the best, or even decent prep and finishing. laying paint is easy, it is what makes the job look good that is time consuming (proper body work, prep, and a good wetsand and buff)

primer...............75
bondo...............25
sealer/hardner.. 125
color................175
clear/hardner.....175
misc.................125

just throwing figures out there on some of the cheaper bc/cc. going with something like a dbc from ppg and the prices will double. even on the cheaper side of things, the cost is 700 dollars, you may beable to get all of the materials for a bit less than that but no one who cares what they are doing is going to paint a car for 500 or less.
one option will be doing a single stage. however, there is just as much work on a single stage paint other than the clear coat being sprayed, but the body work, the prep and especially the wetsand and buff on a single stage is still the same to say the least.

Getting the Maaco Supreme paint job with two coats of paint and clear for 1200$. Body work and all.... It's the same paint they use on hail damage cars at the dealerships.

I had Maaco paint my car in high school. I kept it waxed and it still oxidzed in about a year from being parked outside. I think the paint job was $800 back then. It looked very nice for the first six months though!

thats why u bring them your own paint, the paint Maaco uses for there bargin basement paint job is the cheapest, thats why it oxidized. My friend's tempest still felt like lotion when u rubbed the paint after 5yrs, but then the body on that car was flawless to begin with.

Oh well hell, the dinosaurs still roamed the earth back then. They use paint guns now instead of brushes.

the only other problem with Macco is the painters that work there usually suck because the pay there is crap...Its usually hit or miss at macco to get a decent job...
