Need some advice
Need some advice So I'm from the Austin areas and been wanting to take my car to the track to see how she does. Only problem is that i don't know where is the best, closest track and when is the best time to go for some runs. Thanks
1. Go to SAR, not TAD. The two tracks do not even compare.
2. Do NOT go during Midnight Madness if you are serious about racing your car. Midnight Madness is very crowded (thus very few passes with much waiting in line) and a bunch of rice shows up along with other kids who think it is some kind of hangout... not a serious race track. They lounge on the hoods of their cars blasting stereos and trying to look cool. Also they will pull right into your pit spot, nevermind your jack and street tires, etc. are sitting right there.
I've gone once or twice a long time ago and that was enough. I will probably never go on a Midnight Madness night again. Wednesdays are best if you are seriously wanting to test and tune your car.

I think there's some other Austin guys going to SAR soon that would be good runs for you, if you're interested. They almost went last Saturday, but it was closed.
I would strongly suggest going on Test n Tune nights, and not event nights. 2 Fridays ago, I got 5 runs in my car and 4 in my friend's Mach 1 (after my tranny broke, lol). My last experience before that at SAR was on a Saturday with an event going. I got 2 runs in 4 hours... It was a complete waste of money. I'm pretty sure tech cost more that night too.
