Air tools Vs. electric impact tools

My Boss has the new Snap On 1/2 19volt Impact Gun at work. It's particularly bad ***, but they are in now way replacing air powered tools. I suppose they can't be beat around our garage. No air lines, no compressor, etc. You just have to buy the good one, with the two batteries and charger for like $450.

Air powered impacts have several advantages over electric.
1. more power
2. smaller
3. power output is controlable by simply turning a dial
Electric has these advantages
1 no need for a compressor
2 cordless is really handy the only problem is how long will the cordless ones last and how many battery packs will need replacement before the impact itself goes out.

I use my battery powred snap on gun at work more then my air powered. But for doing anything thats really on there suspension, caliper bolts and places that big electric wont fit air kicks ***. I think the main reason I like my electric is our shop is small and crowded and poorly setup and I dont feel like tripping over my air line all the time.

The air tool I won't use is a angle grinder...I rather use my electirc one for doing cutting under my car and general muffler work cause that air one is dangerous in confined spaces..Its too small and light for that kind of work, angle grinders tend to have bad kick back and the longer heavier electric one gives me more control and it has a bigger and better saw shield..The saw shield on my air one is a small flimsy piece of pot metal

I don't like snap ons electric impact way too big, makita 3/8" impacts are very popular but after mine was stolen I bought a dewalt 12v 3/8 impact and has some *** to it. I didn't like my IM31 snap on 3/8 air impact eventhough its not that powerfull it has a better feel to it then the IR guns.
Far as electric vs. air both have their own niche.
